Xbox Gamepass for PC -> Please remove folder protections!

I like the service, it works great, much better than spending over 60$ a pop for a game I'll play for 3-7 days tops and possibly never play it again.

However the main thing thats really messing me up is the way the app stores downloaded games.

1: I cannot backup large downloaded games, witch means everytime I have an issue and have to resinstall I end up having to re-download 30GB-100GB size files and I only get 1TB of data a month. It adds up fast.

2: I just had an issue where my download for a game got stuck at 10%. It would not start, it would not pause, it would not cancel, it would not let me uninstall, there is no way to delete downloaded files from within the app, and the Folder protection
in systemapps prevents doing anything manually even if I change the permission for the folder, nothing can be copied, deleted or anything really. I tried uninstalling the xbox gamepass app, reset microsoft store and cancelled the download and hit uninstall,
but everytime the game would just restart at where it left off at 10% and 0KB/s. Just stuck. I ended up having to reformat my PC completely to resolve the issue, witch means all other games I had installed from gamepass I need to redownload because I of
course cannot back them up.

Every other game app on PC, Steam, Origin, Uplay ect.. allow you to manually copy files and re-discover them later.

I believe this may be how Microsoft are trying to prevent people from sharing games without paying but I'm not sure. The PC Gamepass is still in its beta phase though so there are bound to be issues, unfortunately. Posting in the Reddit page is a good
idea to try and get your thoughts heard. If you continue to have issues then you can try getting in touch with support here.

They still have denuvo drm just like all other platforms(steam, uplay, origin). Shouldn't be any different. The only people they are preventing access to the folders anyways is the people like me that need them for legitimate reasons.

No both on gamepass, its installed on my pc but when launching it uses the cloud version. At first i thought windows protected folders was not letting the gamepass app through and then it switching to the cloud version but ive added the exception and its still happen.

yeah if you go into cleanup system files it gives a different total due to it being seperate from normal disk cleanup.

as to the permissions, Microsoft decided to implement protections on gamepass and windows store games and apps by securing them in an encrypted folder that is created when you change the location of gamepass game installs. literally have to add yourself
and remove all to gain access.

but Microsofts view is that xbox is part of windows now, windows 10 is a service now and ever changing where the user has no option but to accept the changes. complete pain in my eyes as it does crazy stuff like this and takes ages figuring out how to remove
it or find where stuff is.

I no longer use gamepass on pc as it is a pain and things are always going wrong with it. and as most of the xbox games that are available to pc are now on steam ill stick with that.

even the epic store is better (lol)
