    Good evening, I have been working at this all day. I have watched over 20 videos, been in forums, reddit, stackexchange, called Xbox support, and reaching out to the community as my last hope.

    Basically I have an external hard drive for all of my games, documents, and all other media. I have a backup of these on another 10TB drive. I also have maybe 5 external SSD drives if needed. All of them fail however when trying to install games from gamepass. I have tried everything suggested and racked my brain:

    0x00000001 error code installing to secondary mass USB storage Drive or trying to install xbox gamepass games on other storage drives. All solutions tried so far:



    update windows (Current version: 10.0.19043 Build 19043), repair and reset apps, uninstall and reinstall apps, powershell commands provided in guide, uninstall and reinstall store, try another admin user account, stop and start game services in services.msc, stop and start xbox services, change where default apps are installed to within windows 10 settings, sign out and in of microsoft, format drive to make sure it is NTSF, try other external drives, check with device manager and update and usb controller drivers. Nothing has worked, checked to make sure permissions for users are Full Control, Tried on multiple external drives, reinstalled the OS and all applications, disabled windows defender and all anti-virus software and any firewalls, tested with another machine. Like wth is actually going on with Xbox App and trying to install games from Windows10 to an external drive? I have also tried a dozen or more games available through GamePass. I have limited storage on my C drive and just don't like or want any games on my local drive period.

    I can install games on my local C drive but that is all for both my laptop and desktop.

    Any help is appreciated from advanced users or MCSA Windows 10 certified processionals, or any other engineers or programmers as I can not figure out more details specific to my machine and what's happening to not allow me to install or erroring out.

    Hi, sorry for that issue, the problem is the external hard drive, for some reason (I don't know why), the games that require Administrator approval have issue on external drive.
    Thanks for the answer. External hard drive it is not the problem in my case. While trying to find a solution to this Xbox Game pass for PC / Windows Store error I did reinstall Windows 10 on my iMac's internal hard drive. The problem with error 0x8007001f
    persists even when Windows 10 is installed on the internal hard drive.

    Could be the external hard drive causing the issue then it won't be the first time I seen errors appearing after updates on external hard drives. Try installing it on internal drive instead if you can?.

    Yes, I have an external hard drive connected to my Xbox, and the game appears to be installed on the external hard drive.

    I'm gonna be more specific: the game doesn't accept installation on external storage. Whether it's flash drive or external hard drive, the game isn't meant to install on external storage connected through USB just like Need for Speed Rivals on Xbox 360.
    You need to install it on an internal hard drive (media hard drive). The link I provided to you aren't external hard drives; they're internal hard drives for the Xbox 360:
