No you don't understand how it works

To.redeem gift codes for gamepass YOU NUST add a payment option this is confirmation you aren't cheating the system.and by adding thr code you then on autorenewal for xgu or gamepass

And yes people try and cheat the system by not using their actual region or get cheap gamepass subscription like India's 6month deal
