Xbox game reading trouble

I just want to clarify, does the error occurs in other disc games as well, or just specifically in Forza Horizon 4?

Also, do you experience the same issue with your digital games?

Kindly try to remove your account, restart your console and re-add your account then check to see if it works here's how to remove your account:

1.Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

2.Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

3.Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

> Then restart your console and proceed with re-adding your account. You've got nothing to worry as this will not delete your saved data progress.

If it doesn't work, ensure the disc is clean and not defective:

Clean the disc with a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth. Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surface.

Try playing the disc on another Xbox console:

Playing the disc on another console will help you figure out whether the problem is with the individual disc or the console's disc drive.

First, as of Aug 2nd there is a problem with Xbox LIVE that my cause black screens for some users. See here:

I'm going to assume that your friends problems are unrelated however.

If the first issue (disc reading) was occurring by itself, then I'd would suspect a mechanical failure with the dvd drive. The fact that games on the hard drive fail as well however indicates that there is a larger issue: it is possible these are two separate
problems but it seems more likely there is a hardware fault with the motherboard itself.

Some questions:

- Does the dashboard ever freeze on its own?

- Did both problems appear at the same time?

- Do the issues occur all the time and right away, or after the console has been running for a bit?

You can try some basic trouble shooting:

- Try clearing the cache and retrying a game from the hard drive. See here:

If this does not work:

- Move your profile to the internal storage (if it is not already there)

- Power off the xbox and disconnect the internal hard drive

- Turn on the console

- Log into your profile

- Re download a small game (a trial is fine) and try this

All that said, the most likely culprit is a hardware problem which will require a phone call to 1-800-4MY-XBOX

MIne reads CDs with no trouble but has trouble reading games. If I open and close the tray a few times it eventually reads the game. I'm talking brand new games too.

I believe there is problem with that game. I read on other posts that people are having trouble playing it. Call Xbox support.

and also if i request a repair before my warrant runs out will it still be free?
