xbox game pass (Xbox Beta) app requests smart card

I'm sorry to say.. I've new happen to me before, I have the app.

Does this happen on other app?

Is your Game Pass membership active?

I believe your app is messed up somehow.

Delete the XBox Game Pass app..

Turn off your phone

Make sure you have some extra space on the phone

Try to re-install the XBox Game Pass app

I'm not sure how your computer is configured to use a smart card reader or what software it uses with the device, so I can't help with that, sorry.

However, did you know that Xbox Game Pass Beta App only really needs to be used to download Game Pass games? It is not required to be launched or running in the background for the games to work once they have been downloaded.

I'm experiencing the same issue.

I tried physically removing the USB smart card reader (luckily it's an external device), then rebooting. Nothing. Still the same prompt, as soon as I open Xbox (beta) App on the PC. I can click "OK" and it says "Connect a smart cart" or I can click Cancel,
and the window pops back up, as long as Xbox App is open.

Closing the Xbox App causes the "Windows Security - Smart Card" window to go away. So it's absolutely an app issue.

The "Windows Security" pop-up is persistent and annoying. It even happens if you don't have your smart card reader physically installed on the system. I don't have my middleware (ActivClient) installed.

The problem seems to be the Xbox App is working just fine - authenticating using the standard username and password method it's always used. Yet, it's still popping the Windows Security Smart Card window - again and again.

Saying that you only need the app to download games, doesn't have anything to do with the fact that there's an obvious bug, and it needs to be fixed.

Thank you for the continued efforts. I unplugged the smart card reader from my machine and then tried Repair. The app still prompts four times for a smart card. Then I tried Reset; the app still prompts four times for a smart card.

I had left the xbox app on my computer because I'll have access to game pass until halfway through February, but at this point I just uninstalled it. Between Steam and Epic I have two fully baked options for gaming; for me Microsoft isn't bringing anything
to the table except bugs.
