EA Play conversion ratio: Any remaining time will convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time at a ratio of 3:1 and be rounded up to the next full day. For example, 90 days remaining of EA Play will convert to 30 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time.

As you can see, you'll now need to purchase around 18 months of Xbox Live Gold to convert it to 12 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, pushing the price to around $120 instead of the previous $60 when using the conversion method.

With the new Xbox Game Pass price increase, the annual subscription costs around $200 if you're paying monthly, so the conversion trick could still save you around $80 or so if that's what you'd prefer to do.

I think after activating ultimate, if you redeem a Xbox live Gold, it will extend your ultimate subscription.
