Xbox Game Pass PC Games re-downloading for updates

Chiming in with this problem happening to me as well. Downloading hundreds of MBS/GBS for a 10mb update.

Xbox Game Pass is taking your hard drive space away and not giving it back when you uninstall games, blocking access to parts of your own computer, and now they're stealing our bandwidth and our money by going over on our monthly data usage.

Who else is up for a Class Action Lawsuit against Xbox and Microsoft?

Me too! Sick of Flight Stimulator re-downloading every time it has a small update. 14GB = 113.632GB of downloading? In what world microsoft? Seriously.

Kid had to re-install Forza yesterday because it wouldn't even run after attempting to do a proper sized update. Just flat out refused to run, generic error message.

Garbage. Absolute Garbage. Stop trying to be Steam, you aren't good at it.

I had this with Halo Infinite this week also. would crash when entering a map, did an update / repair check and found 10gb it suddenly wanted. I've been playing the game almost daily prior without issue. the update failed with a code so same thing, had to remove and reinstall. thankfully that one is on Steam, so I can just play the multiplayer there but we shouldn't have to workaround on a competing platform.

Yep I had the same problem with Everspace 2, used half my monthly GBs to download it, played it once and now I have to re download the whole thing. Same thing happened last week with NMS. I see they aren't trying to fix the problem so I'm cancelling game pass, not worth the hassle.

Here! Here! Been dealing with this for over a year now. Redownloading the entire game when it should be just an update.

Had this on multiple occasions happen with Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5 and now again with Doom eternal.

This is infuriating instead of a patch maybe a couple of GB in size I have to download over 100GB for Forza each time there is an update.

Todays Doom Eternal update netted 89.1GB so I just uninstalled.

This is lowering the life span of our hardware, as it puts unneccesary strain on our SSDs.

I still have Game Pass Ultimate for quite some time and hope the matter will get resolved until then.

  • Fixed an issue that caused game updates to reinstall the full game.
    

I had the above mentioned version for quite some time and the problem persisted.

My new version is:

2201.1000.46.0 (Internal)

3.61.23001.0 (Gaming Services)

And yet the problem is still not resolved.
