Xbox game pass PC downloads to drives.

I'm trying to down load Xbox pc game pass games to my 2TB D: drive, but when ever I try to download it comes up with "This location isn't set up for installing games, Set it as your location for where new apps are saved". So I click it, takes me to my settings
and there is new apps will save to, I put in my D: drive hit apply, then it comes up on my screen saying " Delete other apps? This drive has apps from another device. To use this drive, the other apps must first be deleted. Do you want to continue?" And I
don't want that to happen so I click no and then it comes up with, " We couldn't set your default save location. The operation did not complete successfully. Try again in a bit. The error code is 0x80004004, in case you need it". So could any one please help

And before I tried those steps I renamed the file but it just made a whole new one that also didn't work!

So anyone who knows how to fix this please help I really want to play these games with my friends and I'm sure its not Microsoft fault I just want this fixed so then other people can play these games too.

Is this on game pass PC Beta? If so you have to download to the default drive that it creates.

removing the following folders from the D:\ drive - windows apps, programs files, wpsystem, deliveryoptimisation. then restart the pc.

Make sure D: drive only NOT C:\ (pc go bye bye if you do this

I have already renamed D:\WindowsApps to D:\WindowsAppsOld before trying. When I try to set the new drive from C: to D:, it creates a new D:\WindowsApps folder but then errors and leaves the setting as C:. There is also a C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder
but I assume this is not the one it is talking about. I can't rename this one as it is in use by the Store.

yep thats the one its talking about but on the d drive, does not matter if you rename it it will detect it and want to delete it, it will basically delete the contents of the windows app folder (even if renamed) and start a fresh. all games from windows
store and gamepass go into the windows app folder.

i would just let it delete other apps and let it start from scratch on the d drive. if you find you cant delete the folders you need to follow guides on google to change the ownership and security of the folders so they can be removed.
