Xbox Game Pass PC (and all Windows store PC games) needs support for other game controllers

It's pretty much in the title. Game Pass games only work with Xbox One controllers but I would really like to sometimes use a PS4 controller or maybe 8Bitdo SNES controller (I don't know how third party wheel or flight controller support is but I am betting
it's not the best either). but you need to use workaround software that emulates Xinput devices.

this has been a feature on steam for a long time and you can even load custom profiles per game. it's a really necessary feature for PC games especially the broad genres featured on Game Pass.

There are a lot of features and fixes still needed on Game Pass PC but this is a really big one that needs to be addressed. I'm sure this is not a difficult issue to solve since games that do support many controllers on steam don't on the Game Pass versions.

Every controller could be used with windows games if they meet two requirements:

- they must be HID compliant, on the hardware side

- they must be xinput compliant, on the software side

DS4 controllers are natively HID compliant, as we well know. It still remains the problem of the xinput driver.

This could be solved in three ways:

- Sony releases a free xinput driver for Windows

- Microsoft pays loyalties to Sony to implement the DS4 driver in Windows

- Microsoft breaks only God knows how many copyright rules to reverse engineer the DS4

That's not strictly true. The Game Pass games will work with other controllers as long as you can emulate them as an Xinput device. The PS4 Dual Shock can run with these games using the freely available 'DS4Windows' application. Although some games like
FH4 will need some extra tweaking to make them play nice the PS4 controller, it does work.

Without emulation, its really a case of the developers adding support for other controllers retro oriented or otherwise.

It maybe possible in the future (after the beta) - to import some of the games into your Steam application and use Steam's own custom gamepad settings.

If you look on your PC at C:\program files, you see a new folder there that was added in a recent Windows update called 'ModifiableWindowsApps'. This is the greatest indication yet that not all of the PC Game Pass titles
will be locked behind the hidden WindowsApps folder.

yes I already mentioned that I know how to use third party apps to emulate a controller, but this doesnt always work well and is annoying to start everytime I play a game. my point is that games which definitely support many controllers on steam don't
do that on gamepass and it's annoying.
