Xbox Game Pass on PC - Why can I not move files to new PC

I recently built a new PC after my last one died. One the old PC I had downloaded a few games as I was trying out Xbox Game Pass, which I was enjoying it up to that point. My PC died, so I built new PC and moved all my gaming drives over to my new PC including
my XGP game files.

I am now unable to access those files and was forced to re download everything requiring me to also create new folders on a different drive. The old file are not accessible at all as they are some how locked. So with files being "locked", that means I can't
move the game save data over to the other drive when the games are now saved. My hardware configuration should not be used as a means of piracy protection or whatever you want to call it.

I don't mind downloading the game files again, but loosing all my progress is not acceptable.

How is Microsoft not be able to make this happen. I can easily move my Steam and Origin game files without any issues what so ever. I move them, validate the files and viola!, I have a functioning game with all my game saves.

I have contacted customer support and was told there was nothing they could do to help as this was not supported.

Please fix this.

Hi,

Windows Apps and games from the Store (and XGP) are stored in an encrypted and protected folder. The encryption of this folder is only valid for the duration of the current Windows install.

So, if apps are stored on another drive and either Windows is installed from scratch or the drive is moved to a different PC, the files held in this folder are no longer accessible.

Not all Windows games on the XGP program have cloud storage, the program is after still in beta and is not as fully functional as Steam (which as a PC gamer I use a lot of).

For games that don't have cloud saving, most save files can be found in the 'Appdata' folders in your Windows Account user-name.

True, the xbox app is still evolving so there is no official guide on this. I suggest you to check reddit pages as there are some suggested ways to perform this.

is there a way to move this to a new pc as well and save the game data. My son and I have a world on here (which is why we use it) and I would like to move it to a new pc. I already have installed the app but have no idea where the data is. It's not
under program files or data

Hi,

Yakuza 0 is not cross compatible with save files across Xbox and PC. This is why you have to start the game from the beginning on Game Pass PC.

Games like Borderlands 2 or Minecraft can be install if I had a xbox one but to PC I can't (xbox game pass PC) !! Why ?!

Tve Xbox Game Pass from console its different from the Xbox Game Pass on PC!

Some games are exclusive for console and others for PC.

Btw remember tha Xbox Game Pass on PC it's just started, so you will see more and more games will be add on Game Pass.
