Xbox game pass free trial removed?

I remember about a year ago there was a free trial option when purchasing xbox game pass in the xbox store.

I told my friend (who just got an xbox one s ) about it when i was at his house but it seems like the option for a free trial is no loger there,

even though he never redeemed it.

We checked on the game pass site and there was an option for a free trial, but when we redeemed it it gave an error, he even asked his

parents to try with another card and it still didn't work.

Was the free trial removed? if so, why is there still an option to activate it in the xbox site?

Xbox was completely new, i told him to check and indeed he had cards with codes, he redeemed them the codes worked fine. never really got the answer i wanted but he has game pass now so it's ok

Did he purchase the console used? Also when signing into the console & website are you using the same sign in credentials?

Did your friend just purchases an Xbox? He should have got a free trial of Xbox gold and game pass code in the box if he didnt purchase a refurbished Xbox. If he purchased a new one, I would take it back to where he purchase it and get a new one because
the codes was missing. Now if it was new and the codes were in the box and he redeemed it>>>that might be why the offer isnt there.

Otherwise, if he created a new account he should see the offer for a trial but he would still have to add a valid credit/debit card on his account. However, offers do change.

Xbox Gamepass goes through several different promotions over the year. The free trial you are referring could be an old promotion. I believe the current one is first 3 months for $1.
