    It's really a shame that Microsoft seems to ignore the details that make things great instead of just ok.

    Is mediocrity the goal these days?

    There are more and more games that have this exact issue and it's insulting that Microsoft doesn't seem to care about a fix as the feedback is ignored.

    So far this happens on:

    Sea of Thieves

    State of Decay 2

    Astroneer

    And more......

    Microsoft knows that PC gamers need proper Fullscreen (not windowed borderless) to enjoy these titles the way they were meant to be played.

    With the 'Windowed FullScreen' option subscribers to the service are having to resort to force closing Windows Explorer or using 3rd party tools to stop the Win 10 taskbar from popping up any time the mouse pointer in a game touches the bottom of the screen.
    This is understandably a game breaking problem.

    Also, performance is impacted in many games by 5-15FPS (being conservative) when there's no dedicated fullscreen option, which can be enough for many players to experience game breaking performance issues.

    I've been a subscriber since release, and kept hoping things would be addresses in this regard, but even new titles to be available have the same issues, which tells me that there's really no effort in fixing this.

    Every time I come across a game that does this and I simply uninstall it, the closer I get to asking myself why I continue to fund a project that Microsoft doesn't seem to care much about.

    Perhaps it's from porting the titles across from console where there's no taskbar to cause problems as the OS is locked down on Xbox, combined with sheer laziness to just expect customers to be happy with these flaws?

    I'm about done paying for a service (for my kids too) that doesn't seem to care too much about fixing what really is a simple problem - a couple of titles that had this same issue on Steam had fixes, albeit digging into game ini files - I found a few of these
    files but of course Microsoft has blocked access to change the settings that could resolve the lack of dedicated fullscreen options which is actually more infuriating since the fix is there for most titles, but purposely blocked through the Xbox client and
    it's maze of hidden files.

    As an ex MS FTE, I wonder if Phil knows that this potentially wonderful service is going to end up being another failed project for things that could have been easily fixed? An email is on it's way for his attention, perhaps he doesn't even know that people
    are leaving the service because of this.

    Hi,

    I've seen this as well, and it's not just Full screen support that has issues. I know others are going to say it's a beta, but that isn't the issue. These things are not difficult to fix.

    I've found all of the first party games work fine, and have fullscreen support. I have no problems with the Forza games or Gears 4 and 5 other than having to to close my MSI Afterburner application - it causes serious latency frame rate issues when running
    playing Gears 5.

    However the following games I have personally tested have issues:

    Wolfenstein Youngblood: No Fullscreen support and is also missing RTX Ray Tracing, even though there is a toggle in the settings. My guess is it doesn't do DirectX 12. Is this a lazy Xbox port?? No problems with my Steam version. I only
    tried this to see if it was fully featured, looks like it's not.
    I made a post about this a couple of weeks ago.

    Metro Exodus: I think Fullscreen is there, but there is one major issue, no DirectX 12. No DX12 means again, no RTX. Even if you enable DX12 it just reverts back.

    Hellblade: This game doesn't seem to change resolution. There are resolution options, but they don't work. I've got an RTX 2080, but it's not possible to play this game in 4K with everything maxed so I reduce the resolution to 1440P, problem
    is, the game just ignores it and carries on in 4K. The only way to fix it is to change my desktop resolution to 1440P.

    thanks for the reply.

    I've tried all the fixes from restarting explorer, changing UAC preferences, forcing explorer closed (this one sometimes works but it's an extreme measure to play a game that Microsoft should not expect regular users to do) plus no doubt some other things like
    messing with the taskbar settings.

    Bottom line is nothing works and this has been going on since 2015 as far as I can see.

    I'm just gonna cancel the game pass since it's clearly a Win 10 issue that even more clearly is not a priority for Microsoft to address.

    Maybe when another service absolutely tanks (there have been many) and they close it down, perhaps someone with an eye for customer service and business might see that like many other failures, it could easily have been resolved.
