    Machine Config

    Lenovo Legion Y740, Intel core i7 9750H, 17.3" 144Hz GSync, RTX 2080MQ, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Windows 10 Home 20H2 (Build 19042.868)

    Xbox app version 2103.1001.13.0.

    Symptom

    When I launch the Xbox app, every few days it throws an error saying -

    "This app needs a few things that are missing on this PC. Fix them in settings."

    And when I go to settings, it says the following dependencies are missing -

    • Gaming Services
    • Xbox Identity Provider
    • Microsoft Store
    • Purchase App
    • Xbox Game Bar
    • Feedback Hub

    Issue

    My PC already has all of that installed. Sometimes this error goes away if I close the app and relaunch it after some time. Sometimes I have to click the Install buttons, it opens Microsoft Store (which it claims is missing!!) and instantly "installs" all of them (since all of them are already installed) and then starts working.

    I've checked my startup program list and it has "Xbox App Services" enabled.

    How do I permanently fix this, instead of having to "wait for an hour and try again" every time this occurs?

    I'm getting the same error on PC launching through Game Pass app. Other games have been fine, but this throws same error you are seeing.

    Hello Rob! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

    Sorry to hear you are having this issue. I have a couple of things you can check/try.

    1. Make sure that both Windows and the Xbox app don't have any updates pending, if they do, get them downloaded.
    2. Check the Windows Service called Storage Service is running. If its running, stop it, start it then load the app again.

    I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. However, I don't believe Xbox PC app is doing players justice by having to go on a forum for help regarding this. By clicking play why isn't just notifying the player it is no longer on game pass instead of an error code? This is absurd to be honest because throwing an error code makes you think there's a file conflict or something else.

    Again beyond absurd! Just have a popup message stating it's no longer on game pass.

    All other platforms (i.e. steam, epic, etc) provide informative information if it's no longer available. Yet, Xbox for pc throws up an error code.

    Poor design.

    There are a few things you can try. Firstly double check your password is correct. If it is then you may need to restart your PC and possibly reinstall the PC Game Pass app. Keep in mind that this app is a Beta app so it may not be working perfectly yet.
