Xbox Game pass download stuck and cannot be cancelled

It is possible that the Xbox app itself is corrupted and it seems we have exhausted all the possible troubleshooting steps except for one.

I have recently resolved this kind of issue with a gamer earlier.

The gamer decided to reformat the C: drive where the Windows was installed and then downloaded the Xbox app then it worked perfectly.

I would highly recommend doing the same troubleshooting but please make sure to back up all the files before proceeding with a reformat.

I have encountered and resolved the same issue before.

We will be performing some basic troubleshooting steps first. Please make sure to update your Windows, Device drivers, Xbox and gaming services, here's how:

For Windows:

Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.

On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.

On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available for your device.

Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.

Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.

For Device Drivers:

For the best game performance, make sure your system’s video card drivers (or display adapter drivers) are up to date. Drivers are available on the support website for your computer manufacturer, or if your computer system is custom built, on the video card manufacturer’s support website. Updating video card drivers can resolve game crashes, improve frame rates, and improve overall game performance.

For Xbox and gaming services:

Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.

Select Library.

Under Updates & downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.

Everything is up to date, issue remains the same. Game will not download, will not be cancelled, will not allow other games to be downloaded, and will not allow its folder to be deleted and the xbox app does not allow me to change the drive in which games are installed. Effectively gamepass is unusable because of this since I have can't download any games and currently have none installed.

If you are referring to losing Xbox Live Gold because you cancelled Game Pass Ultimate, there is nothing that can be done. It clearly states that Xbox Live Gold will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate days and can not be reverted and that canceling Game

You can cancel your Game Pass Ultimate membership at any time, and you will

sometimes the Game Pass tags get stuck and are not removed when you cancel your subscription, reinstalling the game usually fixes this. They are correct that in order to play the game you needed at least a Game Pass Cpre subscription as it is entirely online
