    Xbox Game Pass and DRM


    So i have a Xbox GP membership but anytime I get disconnected from Live (apparently problems aren't fixed cause I'm still getting disconnected and my Test Network says I'm connected) i get booted from any Game Pass game I'm playing after a while.

    I've enjoyed Game Pass this far but i never realised you needed to be online to play the games. For situations where Xbox Live is having issues it really puts a damper on Game Pass memberships because we're unable to play any GP game.

    How hard would it be for Xbox to make it so you could play offline? It kinda makes me rethink about the membership.

    I was playing Just Cause 3 for a half hour before i got the message that i was disconnected. I looked at my laptop that was still connected to WiFi and didn't think much of it. Then finally was signed out and lost my progress. Kinda crappy tbh. I should
    have just bought the game than do the GP.

    You guys do realize that "Up to the publishers" is the exact same thing we have now. Online Passes are a form of online DRM.

    The only difference is that MS's online DRM system is rooted on the console itself so it applies to all games and not select ones. Its much easier to just not buy games made by publishers with online passes and tons of DRM however you can't avoid it when
    the console is the source of the DRM.

    well they have seen the backlash against always online drm($im City), used game drm (game killing drm in general). so i dont think they will push devs to have none of it if they want to sell any copys of their games. ms and sony both adopted online passes
    when they started. its just xbox is making its own, its going to tank the console hard.

    None of MS's games on the xbox 360 had online passes. Sony's did on the ps3. Just because Sony say they will leave it up to the publishers does not mean sony won't continue with online passes

    Correct, on that my previous posts' points have already been mentioned in this thread, but you have said Xbox One's DRM is the same as PS4's apparent 'DRM'. I'm not arguing or anything, it's just you were adamant that there is no difference between Xbox
    One's used games policies and PS4's. Online Passes is a tiny, if not, insignificant feature compared to the tight restriction of Xbox One's DRM.
