Xbox Game Clips being deleted automatically

To set your expectations properly, once Xbox clips are automatically deleted, they are typically unrecoverable unless they were uploaded to the Xbox network or saved to external storage beforehand.

Please be guided with the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Recent Captures. To do this, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide. Go to "Capture & share" and then "Recent captures".

If the clip isn't recent, select "Show all" to view all your clips.

And then search Xbox Live cloud storage. If you have cloud storage enabled, log in to your Xbox Live account and check the captures.

Unfortunately captures are automatically deleted from the Xbox network after 90 days now. You could try opening the Captures app and selecting "On this Xbox console" from the drop-down list at the upper-left, as clips are not automatically deleted from the console itself after 90 days, although they do get deleted from there over time as you capture new clips and screenshots. It's worth checking though.

What I do is set the console to automatically upload my captures to both the Xbox network and OneDrive, as they are not automatically deleted from OneDrive and it makes it easy to save any ones that I want to keep on my PC. Unfortunately, you can't share clips uploaded to OneDrive on your profile or via an Xbox message, which is why I upload to both.

But yeah, if your missing clips are not on the console itself and you only uploaded them to the Xbox network, they are gone for good I'm afraid.

What quality is your clip recorded at? If it's 4K on Xbox then you have to manually upload the clip that you want to share. The console has limited storage space for video clips and will automatically delete older clips when the space is needed for a newer
clip. If it was deleted from console and never uploaded then sorry, it's gone forever.

Yeah,unless you actually save the clips they will automatically delete after a certain amount of time or if you reach a certain amount of clips.

Unfortunately once they are deleted then they are gone,there's no way to recover them.

Resetting your console wouldn't delete them anyway

Hi, thanks. The clips were on xbox live for some time but are no longer there.

There was news a while back that the capture system had changed in that it would store your clips or screenshots but if they had no views for 30 days, they would automatically be deleted. So if they were over 30 days old and had no views, they would have
been deleted by the system automatically to keep space open for those captures with views.
