Xbox game bar won't open when I **** win + g

We understand that you're experiencing issues with the Xbox Game Bar not opening when you press Win + G. Let's work on this together and try some troubleshooting steps to sort this out.



Before we proceed, I will be asking you few questions to help us better understand the issue:

1. I assume we are running the latest version of Windows 10 or 11?

2. Have you tried restarting your computer and then attempting to open the Xbox Game Bar again?

3. Are you experiencing any error messages when you try to open the Xbox Game Bar?

4. Have you checked to see if the Xbox Game Bar is enabled in your Windows settings?

5. Have you tried using a different keyboard shortcut to open the Xbox Game Bar?

6. Was this working before?

In the meantime, make sure that the Xbox Game Bar is enabled on your Windows 10 or 11 device. To do this, follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  
• Click on Gaming.
  
• Click on Xbox Game Bar.
  
• Make sure that the toggle switch for "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" is turned on.

If the toggle switch is already turned on, try resetting the Xbox Game Bar by following these steps:

• Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  
• Type "ms-settings:gaming-gamebar" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  
• Click on the Reset button.
  

If resetting the Xbox Game Bar doesn't work, try updating your graphics card drivers. Outdated drivers can cause issues with the Xbox Game Bar. To update your graphics card drivers, follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
  
• Expand the Display adapters category.
  
• Right-click on your graphics card and select Update driver.
  
• Select "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions.
  

If updating your graphics card drivers doesn't work, try running the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter. This troubleshooter can fix issues with Windows Store apps, including the Xbox Game Bar. To run the troubleshooter, follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  
• Click on Update & Security.
  
• Click on Troubleshoot.
  
• Scroll down and click on Windows Store Apps.
  
• Click on Run the troubleshooter.
  

If none of these steps work, you may need to reinstall the Xbox Game Bar. To do this, follow these steps:

• Press the Windows key + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  
• Type "Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  
• Type "Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
  
• Restart your computer.
  
• Open the Microsoft Store and search for "Xbox Game Bar".
  
• Click on Install.

do you mean press win+g to open the xbox game bar? if so when you go to accounts i cant find the sign in options. there is only a sign out option

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Windows logo key + G on a Windows 10 PC will open the game bar. Is the game bar not showing up on the screen when those buttons are pressed? The article entitled

I am having the same issue with a normal Xbox One controller connected via bluetooth. Worked fine until yesterday and now the game bar won't open when I press the Xbox button. As above, will open with WIN+G.

Have tried resetting the app and reconnecting the controller but to no avail.

The controller works fine otherwise and can be turned on/off with the Xbox button so don't see it being an issue with the button itself.
