xbox game bar with really bad audio in CALLS (i've not tested on recordings)

I don't have any other microphones to test with unfortunately, I'm using the mic on my headset. Reinstalling the game bar made no difference either.

I checked through the capture settings and it only seems to mute me when the "audio to record" is set to "all" ( i.e game audio, microphone, all other apps ), but not when it's set to "game" ( game audio + mic ). But the issue with this setting is that I want my discord calls / party members to be heard in the clips and recordings too. So I'm very much at a loss

I can see that you are having trouble with the Xbox Game bar audio recording. There are a few possible reasons why this might happen, and some steps you can try to fix it.



First, make sure that your microphone and speakers are set as the default devices in Windows settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Sound and select the devices you want to use under Input and Output. You can also test your microphone and speakers there to make sure they are working properly.



Second, check the Xbox Game bar settings and make sure that the audio recording is enabled and configured correctly. To do this, press Windows + G to open the Xbox Game bar, then click on the Settings icon on the top right corner. Under Capture, make sure that Record game audio is turned on, and adjust the audio quality and volume as needed. You can also choose whether to record your own voice or not.



Third, if the problem persists, you may need to update your audio drivers or reinstall the Xbox Game bar app. To update your audio drivers, go to Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers, right-click on your audio device and select Update driver. To reinstall the Xbox Game bar app, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find Xbox Game bar in the list and click on Uninstall. Then, go to Microsoft Store and search for Xbox Game bar and install it again.

Have you tried adjusting your "Audio to record" settings in Xbox Game Bar?

Open Xbox Game Bar

Click the "Settings" icon (Gear icon)

On the left panel of the settings window, select "Capturing"

Under the "Audio to record" section, enable either the "Game" or the "All" settings.

In this case, using the "All" setting may be more beneficial to you as you're recording a presentation, not a game.
