Xbox Game Bar will not record internal audio and mic simultaneously when using the 30...

When using the 30 second capture feature with capture audio recording set to All (game, enabled mic, apps, system), it does not record microphone audio.

Note Game Bar's three options for recording audio during captures:

Game: (focused application + enabled mic)

All: (focused application, enabled mic, apps, system)

    None: (no audio is recorded)

The problem discussed occurs specifically with the 30 second game capture feature, while audio recording is set to ALL audio.

Problem does not occur when audio recording is set to Game (game + enabled mic), but reappears when switched back to record ALL audio.

Yes, my audio settings are all working. Game Bar shows my mic is working fine in the audio widget.

When using the record feature with audio set to ALL (game, enabled mic, apps, system), the recording starts with the mic MUTED, and must be manually unmuted to record mic audio.

When using the record feature with audio set to GAME (game + enabled mic), the recording starts with the mic UNMUTED.

The two tested scenarios described above may provide insight into a software bug that is preventing mic recording on the 30 second capture feature.

Simply, the mic should not be internally muted in the game bar app when audio recording is set to ALL, unless the user has chosen to mute the mic.

    :)

Xbox Game Bar will not record internal audio and mic simultaneously when using the 30 second capture feature.

    Hello cartler,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This issue may be related to a software bug in the Xbox Game Bar app.

Basing on the statement you provided above, here are some troubleshooting steps that you may try:

Enable Xbox Game Bar via Settings

    1. Press Win + I key and launch Windows Settings
    2. Click the Gaming tab in the left pane and select Xbox Game Bar
    3. Toggle the button next to Open Xbox Game Bar to “On
    4. Reboot the system to apply changes and then launch Xbox Game Bar

Repair or Reset Xbox Game Bar

    1. Press Win + I key to launch Windows Settings
    2. Click Apps > Apps & features
    3. Search for “Xbox Game Bar” in the search box and hit Enter
    4. Next, click the three-dot > Advanced options
    5. Select Repair. If this does not do anything, select Reset

    Use Registry Editor

    1. Press Win + R to open the Run window
    2. Type regedit and then press Enter
    3. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR
    4. Look for the AppCatureEnabled key. If you cannot find it, right-click on the space > New > DROWD (32 bit) Value. Name it as AppCaptureEnabled > double-click and set value data to 1.
    5. Try to use Xbox Game Bar and see if issue is resolved

    Repair the ieframe.dll file

    1. In the search bar, type Command Prompt > right-click > Run as administrator
    2. Type in the following commands. Ensure that you press Enter after entering each command:
      • sfc /scanfile=c:\windows\system32\ieframe.dll
      • sfc /verifyfile=c:\windows\system32\ieframe.dll
      • assoc
      • sfc /scannow
    3. Restart your PC and see if Xbox Game Bar is working

Use Local Group Policy Editor to Enable Xbox Game Bar

    1. Press Win + R to open the Run window
    2. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter
    3. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting
    4. You will see Enables or Disables Windows Game Recording and Broadcasting in the right pane. Double click on it and select Enabled
    5. Click Apply > Ok to save changes

Hope I helped! Please do not hesitate to ask if you have further concerns. I will be waiting for you and I would be more than glad to assist you further.

Audio too low from desktop apps when using Capture on Windows 10

It's like it used to record from the mic and from the audio sent to the headset and audio sent to the speakers but now its the mic and only the audio output selected in the sound setting in the system tray on the windows task bar.

Xbox Game Bar not recording audio from Nvidia Broadcast

I've never been able to get Xbox Game Bar to capture my audio when I record - not with my normal mic/Nvidia Broadcast/Voicemod or anything else. If you wanna record clips/gameplay your best bet is to use OBS (it's free). If you don't wanna download OBS then might as well just keep using your normal mic and deal with a little bit of background noise. If you want you can use the Xbox Game Bar feedback section (Settings Cog > Feedback > Xbox Game Bar Feedback) and report it as a bug.

xbox game bar not picking up audio from microphone

I don't have any other microphones to test with unfortunately, I'm using the mic on my headset. Reinstalling the game bar made no difference either.

I checked through the capture settings and it only seems to mute me when the "audio to record" is set to "all" ( i.e game audio, microphone, all other apps ), but not when it's set to "game" ( game audio + mic ). But the issue with this setting is that I want my discord calls / party members to be heard in the clips and recordings too. So I'm very much at a loss :(

Xbox Game Bar not using my voice

    Hello Michelle Ravenwood,

Thank you for sharing your concern here in Xbox Community Forum and we hope that all is well.

Based on the description, you are trying recording using the game bar with your discord voice. Let us see how we can help.

Windows Xbox Game Bar can capture recording your screen, any sound output and your mic. You can turn the mic off if you do not want to record what your mic picks up. This is how the Xbox Game Bar capturing works. You can also capture recording on the other app by changing the audio to record capturing setting. To check follow the steps below:

    • Open Xbox Game Bar or Windows key + G
    • go to Settings (gear icon)
    • select capturing and under Audio to Record, tick All.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Sincerely,
