It was working properly until I had an audio interface (to use mic) plugged in to the pc for the first time.

Now whenever I use the "record last 30 seconds" feature, the whole audio of the file shifts about 6 seconds to the front.

xbox game bar "record last 30 seconds" audio shifts about 6 seconds to the front causing it to not match with the video.

    Hi, that's odd.
I can suggest you other things to try:

    A. Reinstall the game bar via powershell command

Right-click on the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) from the pop-up menu.

Copy and paste the following command in PowerShell and hit Enter to uninstall the Game Bar from your system.

    Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay | Remove-AppxPackage

Now head over to Microsoft Store and search for Xbox Game Bar, install it and give it a new try

    B. Delete the registry keys associated with the game bar :

Press Windows key+R then type regedit and press Enter.
Go to this path (expand the folders using the little ">")

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR

Once there delete all the keys except (Default), restart your PC and try again

    C. Try doing a clean boot in your PC and try again

    D. Can be a bit odd, but try creating a new local administrator user in your PC and try from there

You may find that it is not on your end of things....there are issues with recordings on Xbox consoles as well with them being out of sync for the last month or, as found out today, no audio at all. Not saying it's definitely not an issue with your Windows environment, merely that it may not be

Hello Josef, thank you for reply, I tried everything you have suggested and after the setting change, there were no audio in the "record last 30 seconds"

so, I had to restart the computer and tested out the feature again and it still had the same audio shifting issue.

For more information, I tried repairing Xbox game bar and even resetting it before trying out your suggestions.

I used Behringer UM2 audio interface with xm 8500 with both input and output being in CD quality.

I had the issue (audio shifting in recording last 30 seconds) both with the audio interface plugged in and not plugged in.

Also, when using the interface, no additional software was used by the interface manufacturer.

After trying out your suggestions without the interface plugged in, it hasn't fixed the issue so far.

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions.

    Thanks again for the reply.

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this SpencerJang

Just to confirm, as soon as you disconnect this microphone everything goes back to normal?

If yes, this can be a bit odd. But please try and double check this:

"Format" for your Microphone in the sound settings for your input device

Go to your Settings > Navigate to Bluetooth & devices
Select Devices > Scroll down to Related settings and select Sound
Select your audio input device under Input.

In the next menu, you should see Format under Input settings. Select an audio format that's no higher than 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)
Verify whether or not the changes solved the issue. If that doesn't work, try adjusting the audio format by repeating the steps above to verify if any other format works.

If the issue persist after that, try this:

Open Xbox Game Bar > Go to Audio widget > Select the Voice
Change Windows default input to the headset or microphone you'd like to use.
Change Default communications input and output to the headset or microphone you'd like to use.

Scroll down to More Settings > Xbox Party Chat
Change Audio output and input to the headset or microphone you'd like to use.

Verify that push to talk is not enabled

    Finally open the Xbox app

Click your profile icon at the top right corner of the page
    Select Settings > Audio
Set your default Input device and output device to the headset or microphone you'd like to use.
Verify that push to talk is not enabled again

Please also double check if you have audio enhancements enabled, if yes disable it.

You can click on the microphone button to enable external audio recording so you can add commentary or do a voiceover. (You'll still record internal audio either way.)
