Xbox Game Bar not working as it should on PC

My Xbox game bar (windows + G) "party chat" needs to be "pinned to the desktop" for the microphone to work. It's extremely odd, and I have yet to find a fix. Me pinning it, is the work around so I can actually talk to my buddies without tabbing into xbox game bar (window + G). When I don't have the xbox game bar up, party chat is unpinned (working in background), and i'm doing anything else, I cannot talk. I can hear my friends, but it's not registering my microphone. I've double and triple checked my xbox mic settings and default windows settings. It's definitely not my PC settings because discord works just fine, which that's set to use my default windows settings. What makes it even more interesting is the fact it's not my microphone settings, Why? Well, because I'm not changing any mic settings and my friends can hear me just fine. I use an audio interface that's connected through XLR cable to a directional microphone, so it's not a USB microphone or something super basic like a blue yeti or anything (not hating, i used to have one). I'm thinking it's just a bug that xbox devs need to be aware of. It never used to do this on the same settings I had before.... so I guess this post is more for awareness than anything for the dev. team.

Oh, it's also not push to talk settings. I checked that too.

Lately there have been users with similar problems with the game bar and apparently you have tried everything. The best I can recommend is that you help xbox by reporting the problem through the following link:

Click on the green "Report" button and fill in the information as detailed as possible.

This way, Xbox will know that there is a problem and will be able to work to fix it as soon as possible.

Keep in mind that this public forum is just gamers like you trying to guide and help other gamers. We are not Microsoft employees.

Another option I can recommend is if your problem is on pc. reinstall windows or check if your version is up to date as a last resort. I use windows 10 and have had no problems with anything, but I have noticed that windows 11 does, if so you could also report the problem through microsoft support at the following link.

Navigate to the search bar and enter your problem. Press Enter or click "Get Help". Log in to access the support options. Choose the appropriate product, select the appropriate category and confirm your selection. The system will provide you with support options to assist you further.

Hi,

The Companion App isn't the best tool to use to join or make parties with other PC and Xbox users now.

You should try using Game Bar instead. Just press the Windows key and tap G to access the Game Bar.

Check if searching for "Game Bar" in the windows search engine allows you to open the application.

Make sure you have Game Bar enabled by going to PC Settings > Games > Game Bar.

I'd love to use the game bar in pc games, it be good to share screen shots with friends on xbox. The thing just doesn't work properly in full screen though. I managed to take a screen of a game on pc through the game bar, when I went to share it, it just
came up as not recognised. Think it was the witcher.

I GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! Nothing helps! And no, it's impossible for me wire my xbox.

I had to keep the wireless setting at mixed, with auto channel bandwidth, with auto channels. This is the only setting that will work fine. I also disabled upnp and put my xbox on DMZ. I alternated between the MTU value 1364 and 1365. Nothing works!

I get 4 bar connection and in game, I get 4 bars but it keeps changing from 1 bar to 4 bar but mostly stayed in the one bar and the connection interrupted shows up. Please help me with a different solution.

I am getting sick and tired of this! I should just go back to PC gaming.
