    Xbox Game Bar not opening when using controller Guide/Xbox button


    Today I'm suddenly unable to open the Xbox game bar in win10 when
    pressing the guide button or w/e it's called in the center of the
    controller, even though windows key+g still works. In addition I'm
    unable to navigate the game bar using the xbox controller,
    but I can play any game with it without any issue. Game bar is enabled,
    obviously, and the checkbox to use the xbox button is too. I tried
    repairing the install and that didn't work, I checked in the gamebar
    registry and sure enough UseNexusForGameBarEnabled is set to 1. I
    rebooted my PC. I ended the exe in task manager and restarted it.

    None of these steps have resolved, so what's going on
    with the program?

    Okay but the next day it worked with any of my games fine, and I didn't update the controller. Do you have an explanation for that? Thoughts, ideas?

    No reply in the past ten days. This forum sucks. For any curious I did update my controller but that was only after it already began to operate the gamebar again, so seeing as Microsoft is thus far been 0 help it looks like you should just reboot your PC to start with.

    Hi BrittonP.

    The Xbox Gamer Bar works as a monitor to visualize some options within the game. this is why it closes. If you use an Xbox controller to play on the PC, with the button that has the Xbox logo (guide button) you can open the Game Bar with a single click, basically
    it's just a popup menu.

    Are you playing on Windows 10 or Xbox One?

    If on Xbox One, I would recommend checking out the
    Xbox Acessories app     for if it's configured to open the guide when you hold the button down.

    If on Windows 10, then I would recommend checking out the Game Bar settings in Settings > Gaming > Game Bar and see if you have a shortcut set to open that app.

    Might also be an issue with the controller, where pressing the X button also inadvertently 'presses' the Guide button on the controller?
