Xbox game bar is not recording anything, yet it seems to be in working condition.

Sorry to hear that your game bar is no longer recording or capturing recording. Let's try some troubleshooting steps.

Check for any pending updates first on your Windows and Microsoft store.

Check the recent version of the Xbox app

Microsoft Store app > Downloads > Get updates/Update all

Check for the most recent version of Windows, including optional updates

PC Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates > Install

Uninstall Gamebar:

Press Windows key + X

Click and Run Windows PowerShell as Administrator

Copy paste the command below then press Enter

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.XboxGamingOverlay* | remove-appxpackage

Then try reinstalling Gamebar from the Microsoft store app.

I am not sure if this exclusive to a select amount of PCs yet if you click the Windows icon + G then it will bring up the XBOX Game Bar where you can message friends, access games and record clips. Clips recorded using this method will be sent to a section on the Bar for viewing and will also be in the folders. Yet this way of recording does not work for all games, and probably only works for games owned by Microsoft/ games accessible on XBOX

I have a similar problem but it only seems to happen when I open the windows game bar, to record gameplay or take pictures. And when I do none of the buttons on the controller work except the xbox home button which opens the windows game bar but again, can't use any other buttons. My only fix so far is to restart the whole computer, but then I can't record anything.

I was trying to replicate your situation, it seems Edge using the game bar recording feature is working as expected

Probably is a functionality between Edge and Game Bar to avoid any DRM issues

Hello, thank you for your response.
I've been using Game bar recorder for years and this started happening a couple of months ago, the weird things is that the recorder works perfectly in some games but in most games it is still glitchy.
I have windows 11
I've tried uninstalling game bar and every single xbox app multiple times and changing my settings, also I've tried doing what you suggested and setting the quality to standard (there is no medium quality) and nothings seemed to work.
