Xbox fornite cross play ps4 with child account

Trying to enable crossplay on xbox one for my sons account.

His xbox account is linked to his epic account and I've turn every privacy setting to "everyone" or "allow", but the option to add epic friends doesn't turn up nor the option to turn on crossplay in the fornite settings.

What am I missing.

Any guidance appreciated.

Installed the November 2018 update for XBOX One and the latest update for Fortnite. Even with the above mentioned settings for privacy & online safety enabled the option for cross-platform play on Fornite is still not available when signed in from the
child account.

Yes, I'm aware the setting to allow cross-platform parties is in the Fortnite game itself. That option does not appear in the games settings when using the child account with Fortnite.

What is strange is that I logged into an adult account and don't see the setting to allow cross platform parties either, but cross platform play is enabled. It used to appear on the game settings screen just under the options for streamer mode. Epic may
have updated the UI with the latest release. With the adult account, I was using a keyboard and mouse and when I went to start the game I was prompted to allow cross platform support since Epic wants to pair Xbox players using keyboard and mouse with PC players
using the same controls to make the games fair.

When I tried to start a game with the child account Fornite displayed a message saying cross platform play is not allow on this account. No option to enable it was given. So it looks like Epic may have changed how this works, but they still are not recognizing
when these options should be accessible to the child account OR the settings on the web aren't actually getting to the Xbox console itself.

I'll try removing the child account from the Xbox and re-adding it.

Fortnite does not allow cross play with Xbox and PlayStation players. PlayStation and Xbox players are able to play with PC. If his/her friends are on PC, they will be able to play with him/her.

As of now, cross platform play is disabled for child accounts. We are currently working on a feature which will allow parents to better customize restrictions on child accounts. As soon as this is released, you will be able to enable or disable cross play.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience but rest assured this will become available in the near future.
