Xbox Films & TV (Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

    Hello,

Today I tried out the "Films & TV" app and purchased a TV show. I don't have the fastest broadband in my area so on my XBox 360 I decided to download the program first before watching. After the download completed I pressed Play. Unfortunatly, I found EVERY
10seconds (approx) the sound would go out and I would miss the odd word or two. Since I purchased an entire series of the show I decided to try and stream episode 2 and see if I get the same problem. However, to my surprise I found the audio problem to be
less frequent when streaming and it only happens every 90seconds or so.

I then tried watching the program on my XBox One. There was no option to download the episodes so I just streamed them. On the XBox One there was no audio problems and the episodes played fine.

So my question is what is causing the audio issues on the Xbox 360 ?

Both XBox 360 and XBox One are in the same room and connected to the same TV.

Also another minor niggle is that at the start of playback on both XBox 360 and XBox One the video resolution is much lower for the first couple of seconds before it automatically adjusts to a much clearer resolution. Why is this and can I setup my XBox's
to play at the right resolution from the beginning ?

    :)

    Cortana cannot "Snap TV"

When I ask Cortana to "Snap TV", I'm given a list of three items with "TV" in the title: "Talk Talk TV", "Films & TV" and "TV" and asks which one.

If I say "TV", I get exactly the same list again.

I seem to recall having the exact problem on my windows PC trying to open the Xbox app, as I had Xbox and smartglass apps installed.

I have some investigating of this issue . when i got my xbox one i relocated my xbox 360 to another part of the room but still connected to tv via another longer htmi cable. when i tested other videos that i previously purchased that worked fine they now
exhibit the same problem. so is this a htmi problem ? i then played a game on my 360 that had alot of intro speach to see if the audio problems reocurre. however no audio issue where displayed. so problem only occur playing 'movies & tv' but no problems playing

I tested a DVD in my Xbox 360 and I was able to reproduce the audio-drop problem. I never had DVD playback problems before I relocated my Xbox 360 to this new HTMI cable :-(

This was odd since I used this HTMI cable to connect my PS3 to the television and I didn't remember any issues.

So I unplugged my XBox 360 and plugged in my PS3 and tried playing the same DVD.

In the PS3 the DVD played fine and there was no audio drop. Also tested playing a blu-ray disc .... no problem

    Tested a PS3 game .... no problem.

So is there a compatability issue with XBox 360 and some HTMI cables. Is there a specific specification of cable that is require to play 'Movies & TV' without audio skip ? Or is there specific setting on the XBox 360 and the TV that I need to set in order
to make things work ? My TV is a Sony Bravia.

    Summary (using same htmi cable):

XBox 360 - playing games - FINE (no problems)

    XBox 360 - playing DVD - BAD audio-drop problem

    XBox 360 - playing 'Movies & TV' - BAD audio-drop problem

PS3 - playing 'Movies & TV' - FINE (no problems)

PS3 - playing DVD - FINE (no problems)

Ermmm if it's jumping a lot could it be the actual processor in the 360 having too much to do?

Also does HTMI=HDMI as I use an HDMI cable, but I could have missed sumat.

    Just thinking out loud really.

Thanks for the suggestion, but as previously mentioned before relocating my XBox 360 the video playback was fine.

I doubled checked this by disconnecting my XBox One and re-connecting my XBox 360 back to its original setup.

Games worked...... Videos worked.....DVDs worked. No audio-drop.

So the only difference is the hdmi cabled used.

Using the hdmi cable on a PS3 worked fine but I only saw problems when used with my XBox 360. There must be some compatability issue here.

Is there some specific requirement for hdmi cable in order for xbox to work correctly ????

If I can find this out I can purchase another hdmi cable that meets this specification and test it out.

What to do when support teams can't help with a problem?

It is supported, there's an Xbox video app just like that for Xbox 360 and you can buy the shows from it too. Surely they wouldn't allow you to purchase it on a device where you can't watch it. And no Xbox video content is supported on windows phone 8, not
tv or films. However, films do work on my win8 laptop and surface.
