Xbox Feature Request: Seeding on local network

Updates and game file sizes are becoming increasingly large. The transition to digital is also picking up speed. It would be useful for households with multiple Xbox’s to be able to download updates/games onto a single Xbox and then have that Xbox seed the
files for the other Xbox’s on the local network to relieve the much slower internet connections from having to download the same files to all devices.

Something like a simple check the Xbox could run on the local network to see if another Xbox has that update or game files before going to the external network would be so much better.

Amazing. Thank you Daniel. I didnt know that existed and its quite hidden.

It would be nice if this sort of stuff was automatic - particularly with updates. You could even set it so that it was only family connected Xbox devices if you needed an added layer of privacy/security.

This feature exists in the feature called Network Transfer;

Network transfer lets one Xbox console copy games and apps from another console, so long as they’re on the same home network. Copying this way can be faster than downloading another copy of the same game or app. If you have a metered internet connection,
this can also save you money.

Any Xbox (Xbox Series X|S, original Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox One X) can be either the source or the destination console.

1. On the Xbox you want to copy from, press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide.

2. Go to Profile & system > Settings > System > Backup & transfer > Network transfer and check the Allow network transfer box. This makes that Xbox visible to other consoles on the same network.

3. Once you’ve allowed transferring from the “host” Xbox, turn on the console onto which you’ll be copying games and apps, and go to the same settings page. Your host Xbox should be listed.

4. Select the Xbox you want to copy from, choose the items to copy, then select Copy selected.

There is no System Link feature for the Xbox One at this time. Microsoft is currently focusing on promoting Live and have not implemented local networking on the console yet. I suggest going over to the Xbox One Feature request page and either put that up
or up vote someone who has already made that request as that is the best way to get this feature back for the new console. I wasn't aware they had removed that feature until I saw your question and did a little research. Also, Ghosts on the One does not have
this feature since it is not part of the Xbox One feature set at this time. It may on the 360, bit it doesn't for the One.

Will existing seeds change completely after the update? If I start a new world with a seed that I used before will it be the same just with added features (ravines, strongholds..) or will it be different completely?
