    XBox Family - Digital Purchase Sharing Needs an Overhaul.


    Purchases from a family manager should be shared to family members. My kids have their own XBox systems and I have my own. Digital purchases should be able to be played on any "Family" Xbox without me signing in, provided the game is not currently being played. It should be a license check-in / check-out process and only for devices on the same LAN. Consider the following requirements to enable this level of sharing.

    • User can toggle between traditional Xbox Sharing (what exists today) or Household sharing; requiring all Xbox systems to be on the same LAN and all profiles to be pert of the Family group.
    • "Home" Xbox is defined, this could be used to determine xbox system lan requirement or maybe act as the license server.
    • Kid1 profile on Kid1 Xbox requests access to digital game.
    • Kid1 Profile is a member of Family Profile
    • Digital game license is not in use by "Home" Xbox or "Kid2" Xbox/Profile
    • Kid1 Xbox detects "Home" Xbox on local LAN.
    • Digital game is not content restricted by Kid1 family profile.
    • Digital game begins playing for Kid1 Xbox on Kid1 Profile.
    • While Kid1 is playing digital game, Kid2 requests same digital game.
    • Kid2 Xbox detects Home xbox, but number of digital licenses is 1 and number of licenses in use is 1 (on Kid1 profile/xbox). Access to Digital game is denied. (License in use - purchase an additional license option)
    • Kid1 quits digital game, license is checked in (0 in use)
    • Digital game can be launched on another family xbox/profile.
    • License checkouts should be for a maximum of 24 hours before they need to be renewed to help alleviate errors that might occur during check in.

    So I'd suggest you purchase digital copies of games you'd like to play, and Game Share by setting the Xbox account to Family Account.

    Keep in mind that unless you are sharing with a family member in your household you violating the terms of your digital purchase which could result in an account ban which would include the loss of ALL digital content that account has purchased. Digital

    You would've been able to digitally sell towards new digital purchases. You would've had family share. You could've pretended you were digitally playing frisbee.

    My idea on Family share: Only digital downloaded games can be shared via cloud that way the disc copies do not get passed around. Currently all purchased games on xbox live are registered to the gamer tag so they maybe able to use that to give the people
    family share. I don't know just an idea. I really don't care for family share but thought about it for people who want it.
