Xbox Family Account Issues

We have 3 xboxes currently in use. 1 is in my office, another is in the family room and the last one in the game room.

I pay for the Gold account and have set the family room Xbox as the home account so my son can access the purchased games and play in there.

However, what the issue is he can not access party chat, join parties in game, or what have you. His account was originally set to custom which I have changed; however, the only way he can play games with me and party up is if he is set to no restrictions
which sorta defeats the purpose of having any security features at all.

Is there any way to set my son's account up so he can play with me online in a party, talk on chat with myself and family friends, but still have security features active?

This is what I figured and have slowly been doing. We get one or two games to work but then it breaks another games party function. Guess we'll keep plugging along.

I believe you should be able to go into the child profile settings and enable it there, I know there are a lot of settings turned off on a child profile versus an adult profile.

Hi Salty, a question for you - I've recently set up a child account for my son, do you know how to transfer all of the progress/achievements from my account (which he's been using previously) to his new account?

You can limit his account as much or as little as you want, through the privacy and online setting (https://privacy.microsoft.com/it-IT/xbox-one-privacy-and-online-safety) option.
