    XBox Factory Reset itself. How to retrieve accounts?


    My 13-year-old son is the Xbox user. He doesn't have Xbox Insiders, so let me know if there's a different sub I should post this in. I'm posting here because we found a very similar description of his problem on a post for Xbox Insiders.

    I may be wrong about a lot of terminology.

    My son used his Xbox yesterday and turned his console off like normal last night. When he turned it back on this morning, all of his accounts were gone. After 30 minutes of loading, he was able to get to the screen that allows him to add an account.

    It appears the console has factory reset itself. Is this a known issue with a new update today? Any way to reverse it?

    Is there any way for him to retrieve his accounts if he doesn't know the login information? These accounts were added to this Xbox years ago when he was a little kid, and he doesn't know the usernames or passwords. He has just been using the various accounts without having to log into them for years.

    It seems that you're experiencing issues with your Xbox One. It sounds like your console may have undergone a factory reset on its own. A factory reset will erase all data and settings on your console, including your profile and network settings. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

    It is possible that factory reset remove everything on your console and we need to setup again your device. To set it up, follow the steps provided in this link: Set up your Xbox console: Digital setup | Xbox Support or follow the steps below:

    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.

    2. Select "Settings" and then "System".

    3. Select "Console info & updates" and then "Reset console".

    4. Choose "Reset and remove everything" to perform a factory reset.

    5. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your console again, including connecting to the internet and signing in to your profile.

    You should go to the Xbox Insiders subreddit for all the up to date about the preview program. This update required a factory reset of the OS.

    The saved data is in the cloud, so if you did a factory reset then you would be able to retrieve the data by just logging in with his account.
