    External hard drive help!!!!

I am also having the same problem. I bought a brand new Seagate 3.0 USB 2 TB external hard drive, even formatted it on the computer, and the Xbox says "External Media Storage Ready" when plugged in.

Hi there! This is Ronnie, an independent adviser.

Nice to meet you and I hope you are having a great day!

I understand you need help on your storage device problem.

I believe you already did what you could to try and check if the hard drive can still be used on your Xbox but if the Xbox is not detecting or somehow the hard drive is not working on the console, it means that there is something wrong with the hard drive itself.

Try isolate the case first by using a different hard drive on your console or any other device that will use the USB port just to check if it is working. Because if it is still working, it means that the hard drive is defective. For that, I would suggest having the hard drive replaced from the store since you purchased that brand new.

Normally, Xbox would detect the storage device once plugged in for formatting.

    Hope that helps.

    In need of additional storage

When purchasing an external drive, avoid Seagate. I'd strongly recommend going with a Western Digital 2 TB external.

    External Hard drive

Any USB 3.0 drive with 256GB or more of storage should work with the console. I use a Seagate 3.0 TB external drive and it works flawlessly.

    Good Luck.

Storage Alternatives for XBOX versus internal drive

Right now i have 3 external HDD on my Xbox One X.

2 WD of 2 TB and 1 Seagate of 8 TB.

I use the Seagate for all the games that are Xbox One X enhanced the other for the games that are Xbox One regular games or Xbox 360 backwards compatible.

So i use the internal to the games the required a lot of data reading example RDR 2, HALO TMCC, etc.
