  1. Xbox external NVME SSD's and Hardrive cause Bootup Problems on XBOX SERIES X/S

Ok, I had a problem with Booting up my Series X with my external drives plugged in. Every time I restarted the console, I would have to unplug my external NVME SSD's and Hardrive, or it wouldn't connect to Xbox live on startup. After the December 2 update (Beta), I cant restart the console, with the drives in now. BUT if you do a hard reset (hold the Xbox button until the system turns off) it boots just fine WITH the NVME SSD's and Hardrive plugged in, so I see progress. (Also, the energy-saving option STILL doesn't work problem)

    Xbox series s/x storage

You can still use external HDD for your Xbox/Xbox 360/Xbox One games but you can't play Series X/S games from them,

Series X/S games can only be played from the internal or external storage card,

with game file size's getting bigger, that 1Tb internal NVMe SSD is going fill up quick.

Seagate External HDD not recognised by Series X

    Yes but you forget

The compatible is for storage not for running xbox series x or s games it's nowhere even close

The limit of any external drive is 500mbps as per the limits of usb 3

the requirement for an xbox series x or s or optimized or patched game is 4.8gbps

Because you are bypassing theeverything but the north bridge

Vs usb you have to go thru the USB host controller to pci to the southbridge then northbridge

No hdd or ssd will ever come close to nvme because it's sitting right on the north bridge and direct access to cpu gpu and memory

There is talk of nvme controllers that will accept ssds but it remains to be seen

The limits of that is what cable you are using

Nvme cards with direct access to the bus same with nvme sticks

The beauty of nvme cards is thqt they are hotswapable

Thinking of picking up an SSD for Xbox Series S

Bear in mind, even faster SSD external storage only works for Xbox One and Xbox One X enhanced games. They won't work with Series X|S games. You can store these games on these drives, but you can't play them.

NVME is a waste of money as the USB 3.1 ports maximum bandwidth is 5Gb/s (or 500MB/s).

If you want an SSD for your Xbox One or Xbox One X enhanced games, then your best choice is a SATA SSD connected either via a SATA to USB 3.1 adaptor or an USB 3.1 external drive enclosure.

Will the Xbox Series X be able to use my external SSD

You can or should be able to use it for the Series X but i don't recommend running your games from it,

as you wont get the fast loading or fast travel time of what the Series X custom NVMe SSD is capable of,

It's best to use any external HDD or SSD for just game storage and transfer you most played games onto the Series X NVMe SSD.

I’m gearing up for the Xbox series X launch and want to know if the Steel series arctic nine

If you can use the headset on the Xbox One / S / X, it should be usable on the Series X,

Steel Series website on the Arctis 9X Headset states it will work on Xbox Series X, if its the Arctis 9X.

    Hi DerekMcClemens

As far as I know, most if not all current hardware will be compatible with the Series X, even your games on your external hard drive can just be plugged in and enjoyed.

This makes it easy for me as I have a 4TB external myself and its almost full.
I wouldn't run the game direct from the 4TB hard drive as you wont get the fast loading or fast travel times that the Custom NVMe SSD offers, best to transfer you most regular played games on to the Xbox Series X SSD.
