Xbox Elite Series 2 Issues With Rocket League

Every roughly 1 minute, my Elite Series 2 controller reconnects, causing me to lose all input and get hit with serious FPS (into the single digits) drops for 2-3 seconds. Then the controller is fine and everything goes on as normal, until it happens again.
This is obviously bad in a competitive game.

This usually happens about every 60 seconds, though sometimes if I mash buttons it can trigger sooner than that. Every 5th time this happens, it fails to reconnect until it power it off and back on, at which point it works great for about another minute,
then this starts up again.

The firmware is updated, Windows is updated, drivers are updated, and the controller has zero issues playing other games for hours. A major selling point was the ability to play wireless, so using the USB-C cable is not a real solution, especially because
this issue only happens with one game.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update: I fixed it by going back into Big Picture settings and checking the box about the Xbox controller config. Reloaded the game, it said default settings for Rocket League, zero problems. Makes even less sense to me now, but it works without issue.

I'm using built-in Bluetooth, but I have zero issues with any other game, even after hours of continuous playing. With this one game I have an issue.

Are you using 3rd party Bluetooth receiver on PC or the official Microsoft Xbox One controller dongle for Windows 10?

To rule out issues with Xbox Elite 2 controller I would connect it to phone and try to play something (any free game would do with controller support), both Android and iPhones now support Xbox One controllers as input methods. If there is no issues on phone
then it's 100% faulty Bluetooth receiver on your PC. If the issues also present when playing on phone, then you have faulty controller.

If the issue is with controller itself or Microsoft USB dongle you need to contact Xbox Support at https://support.xbox.com/

If the issue is not with a controller itself and you are not using official Microsoft USB dongle, I would look into getting one or replacing your Bluetooth receiver with a better one with Bluetooth 4.0 support or higher.

Very interesting problem @Atreezy. The controller is "not supposed to do that", when I asked my friends.

Their suggestion is the thumbstick tension is set to light (I understand it is settable with a tool that came with the controller kit). This makes sense due to when you disable the thumbstick, the screen no longer moves with just tilting the controller.

Basically, with the controller tilted you are having inadvertent inputs that you should not be having. Try adjusting the thumbstick tension and let us know if the results give what you are expecting. I believe it will work as designed.
