Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will not connect over USB to configure on Windows 10 v1909.

    Hello,

I having serious issues with the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller and it's inability to be run on multiple PCs . I
can connect over Bluetooth, so that is not the issue. The main problem is Xbox Accessories refuses to see the controller so there is no way to configure buttons or profiles to take advantage of the controller. Now, I know what
you are thinking... wait.. a controller on PC!!? BLASPHEMY! But alas, I am not as "twitchy" as when I was younger, and hands do not work like they used to. Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will not connect over USB to configure on Windows 10 v1909. :)

I have looked on forums, YouTube, Google and more to find out how this issue can be fixed.

This does not help if I cant see the controller in XB Accessories: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controller/xbox-accessories-elite-series-2

    • I am running Windows 10 build 1909(OS Build 18363.693).
    • I have tried multiple USB ports on same PC (desktop)
    • I have tried multiple USB ports on a laptop with same OS build
    • Bluetooth connects but needs to be RECONNECTED every time I shut down.
    • This was brand new controller from Target, not used.
    • I only have ONE cord as I have no other devices that use USB-C
    • Using USB does not help because the system wont install any drivers and plugging into ANY USB always gives error "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". When i try and go into device manager
to update the driver, it tells me its the latest
    • Windows Updates see no updates to assist on any part, so attempting to update drivers in Device manager do not work
    • I have the OPPOSITE issue as this forum post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...er-using/fe07334e-60e0-4134-ad4c-b0a1b4b90bee

Any help would be great, as I think at this point, with two PCs unable to see this device, I am frustrated that MS creates this device, creates the software and yet somehow, it does not work. I love the controller and the feel, but if I can only use it like
a normal controller, I need to just return it within 14 days for a refund. I understand PCs are all different, and other hardware can affect things... but I tried two different machines with the same result.

    Thanks for your time everyone!

    :)

Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller will not connect over USB to configure on Windows 10 v1909.

    Hello GhostWraiith,

The Xbox accessories app does require a newer update of windows 10 to be able to have mapping ability for your controller on pc. It'll notify you once you install it on your computer. Another option is connecting it to your Xbox and mapping the controller
there as well. The best option would be for you to go to Microsoft support page and follow the "click here to see if you need updates" link.

If you want easier access with the controller without plugging it in. Microsoft sells an adapter for about $20.00. It's a great buy personally especially if you use your mic through your Xbox controller.

Also when connecting your controller to Bluetooth go to Bluetooth and devices and click add a device, don't have your computer look for one under Bluetooth this is like a one time connection. when you add it you won't have to keep re-adding it.

    This may also help.

I would also recommend trying to borrow a friend's USB C cable if possible.

Cannot configure xbox elite series 2 in Accessories app

    • To configure the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (or later) and make sure your PC has the latest fixes.

      See how to get updates
      .
    • The Xbox Accessories app won’t detect your controller if you’re using Bluetooth to connect to your PC. Connect your controller using Xbox Wireless, or plug the included USB-C cable into the back of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and plug the
other end into your PC. For more info, see

Are Xbox Wireless Controller user remap profiles supported when connecting to Windows 10 PC via bluetooth? Works fine when USB

    Hi

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to answer that.

Customizing user profiles on a Windows 10 PC is not supported via Bluetooth. Any Bluetooth capable Xbox One controllers will need to be plugged in via USB-C or through the Xbox Wireless Adapter if you want to customize and use custom profiles. The Xbox Accessories
app will not detect your controller over Bluetooth connection.

Use the Xbox Accessories app to customize your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2

    Things to keep in mind:

    • The Xbox Accessories app is only available on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Connect your controller using Xbox Wireless, or plug the included USB-C cable into the back of the Xbox Elite Wireless
Controller Series 2 and plug the other end into your PC. For more info, see

    I hope this helps!

Xbox Elite Controller 2 will not connect VIA usb or Bluetooth to my pc

The original XBox Elite controller requires the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 so without that adapter it will not be recognized properly by Windows. The newer, Elite Series 2 can connect to a Windows 10 PC without the need of an adapter.
