Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller Turns Off Automatically

Whenever I try to charge my controller, it starts to charge and turns on for no reason and after a few minutes it turns off and on again. After that it stops charging. I've tried using my charger for my phone but it still doesn't work. I've only been using it for 4 months. It used to work a couple of weeks ago.

Based on your issue description, most likely it's an issue of your controller battery. I don't think it's a firmware issue since you've successfully updated its firmware already.

My controller is fully charged now but it still turns off after playing for around 5 minutes. I power cycled it as well.

I messed around with the wire and now the charging light isn't blinking but it is just white

Could you check for a controller update while connected via USB cable? Try to use a different USB cable because it's possible that your cable is faulty which doesn't charge your controller correctly.
