XBOX Elite Series 2 controller on PC - Left thumbstick problems

Hello, I have been searching for many days for some kind of solution to this. The responsiveness of my left thumbstick on my elite series 2 controller has been very inconsistent. I have tried different profiles in the xbox accessories app, have tried different resistance settings with the thumbstick itself, but there has been no solution. When I press up on the thumbstick in games, my characters will walk very slowly and over time, the controller will register a full "up" direction. It acts like I am sloooooowly pressing the up direction, which I am not. I have determined that it must be an issue with the magnetic quality of the thumbstick "shaft" itself. When I remove the thumbstick and use the stick without the "cap", the directions I press register 100% correctly. But when using the thumbstick cap, the problem returns. The controller is nearly unusable with this issue, as left thumbstick responsiveness is pretty important in games.

Before it is asked, my warranty has expired in June of 2021.

I think that a solution could be if there was a thumbstick cap that was plastic and not magnetic, but I haven't been able to find anything online like that...aside from 3d printed ones. I don't have access to a 3d printer.

I'd appreciate any help.

My first elite controller broke in the first week, the left thumbstick internal snapped, hopefully the series 2 controller is good

Each Elite controller series 2 comes with 1 set of paddles. You can order replacement paddles, thumbsticks etc.

Series 1 paddles, thumbsticks is not compatible with series 2.

Unfortunately the Elite controllers have a major issue of stick drift developing. Particularly on the left joystick. Even mine failed after just a year. Officially, setting the response curve to Instant in the the Accessory App helps a bit or sending in your old one for a new controller at a slightly discounted price. Unofficially, I did have some luck extending the life out on mine by using the program 'reWASD' to better fine tune deadzones and such. Unless you are knowledgeable with soldering, I dont recommend replacing the entire Joystick module as you will likely just brick the controller entirely.

Please note that here in the forums we can't help you with self repairs. Is against the community rules

If your Elite series is having issues the best option is get it inspected in the closest authorized retailer or repair center (or where original parts are used) if you don't want to open a repair request with Microsoft

Yeah I messed with dead ones in rewasd and Xbox accessories app. Doesn't really fix it. It's not the typical stick drift that controllers usually get. With the removable thumbstick caps, replacing it shouldn't involve soldering.

The strangest thing though is the fact that the problem disappeared when the cap isn't used. I can't possibly be the only one who has this problem. I even tried using aluminum tape to negate the magnetic pull on the cap to no avail.
