  1. Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller not connecting to PC via USB cable. Do I need a new cable or...

I have had my Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller for about a year I would say and I always keep it connected to my PC via the USB cable that it comes with. I accidentally dropped the controller (no more than 1ft) and since then it no longer connects when using the USB cable. It will connect via Bluetooth still, but certain games like Halo Infinite will not work despite it being connected with Bluetooth. Bluetooth isn't always reliable because I have to keep reconnecting it because for some reason it losses its Bluetooth connection. I tried updating Windows, Drivers, etc. but nothing has worked. I then tried to update and configure the controller using the Xbox Accessories App. The app recognizes the controller as being connected to Bluetooth but does not register it as being connected via USB even though it is plugged in. The app only allows you to configure the controller if it is connected via USB so I wasn't able to do that. Dropping the controller obviously didn't help but I'm surprised this caused such a problem considering it wasn't a far drop and the controller still works via Bluetooth (besides Halo Infinite for some reason). The USB and the ports on the controller and PC seem fine but the only thing I can think of is something happened to the USB wire and now it doesn't connect. Is this a normal issue? I wanted to check before I went and bought another USB cable. If I have to, what USB cable is best for the controller? Thanks!

    :)

Elite Controller Series 2 will no longer charge or connect to Xbox or PC?

My controller is the elite series 2 controller, so I cannot remove the battery.

As I mentioned in my original post, the controller will not connect to my PC or Xbox with the correct USB C cable, and it will not charge or connect with the multiple cables I tried to use.

Is there a way I can send this in to get repaired?

Xbox elite series 2 wont connect to xbox accessories app on my pc

    Hello Yeddy Yordan,

Thank you for sharing this with us and welcome to Xbox Forums.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that you're having trouble connecting your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller to the Xbox Accessories app on your PC. There could be several reasons why your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is not connecting to the Xbox Accessories app on your PC or through Bluetooth. Nothing to worry, we'll work on this together.

Before we proceed, I will be asking you few questions to help us understand the concern further:

    1. Have you tried connecting the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller to a different PC or Xbox console to see if it connects?
    2. Have you checked if the USB-C cord you are using is working properly by trying a different cord?
    3. Have you tried updating the firmware on the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller through the Xbox Accessories app on your PC?
    4. Have you checked if your PC's Bluetooth is turned on and discoverable?
    5. Have you tried removing any other Bluetooth devices from your PC's Bluetooth settings to see if that helps the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller connect?

In the meantime, please ensure that your PC meets the minimum system requirements for the Xbox Accessories app. You can check the system requirements on the Microsoft Store page for the app.

Next, please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

    • Make sure that your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller is fully charged. You can charge it using the USB-C cable that came with the controller.

    • Try connecting the controller to your PC using a different USB-C cable. Make sure that the cable is fully inserted into both the controller and the PC.

    • If the controller still won't connect via USB, try resetting the controller. To do this, press and hold the Pair button on the back of the controller for 3 seconds, then release it. The Xbox button on the controller should start flashing rapidly, indicating that it's in pairing mode.

    • If the controller still won't connect via USB, try connecting it to a different USB port on your PC.

    • If the controller won't connect via USB, try connecting it to your PC via Bluetooth. To do this, press and hold the Pair button on the back of the controller for 3 seconds, then release it. The Xbox button on the controller should start flashing slowly, indicating that it's in pairing mode. On your PC, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, then click "Add Bluetooth or other device". Select "Bluetooth" and follow the on-screen instructions to pair the controller.

    • If the controller still won't connect via Bluetooth, try resetting the controller and your PC. To reset the controller, press and hold the Pair button on the back of the controller for 20 seconds, then release it. To reset your PC, go to Start > Power > Restart.

If none of these steps work, please try updating the firmware on your controller. You can do this using the Xbox Accessories app on your Xbox console. Connect your controller to your console using a USB cable, then open the Xbox Accessories app. Select your controller, then select "Device info". If a firmware update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to update your controller.

I hope this helps you with the issue for your Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Kind regards,

XBOX SERIES X and Play and Charge Kit

    Hi,

    • Yes, you can connect the controller via the USB cable to a PC. The cable sends data as well as power.
    • You don't need batteries. The USB cable sends power and data, As long as the controller is connected to the USB port on the PC will power the controller.

xbox elite 2手柄使用usb线连接电脑时内置电池会进行充电吗? [Translate] Does the built-in battery charge my computer when the xbox elite 2 handle is connected to my computer using a usb cable?

    Web translation:

When the xbox elite 2 handle is connected to the computer using the usb cable, will the internal battery be charged?

    Please help answer:

    1. After the internal battery is dead, can I use the included usb cable to connect to the PC to continue playing?

    2. Will the battery be charged after connecting the PC with the usb cable?
If so, then does charging while playing affect battery life?

    Thanks for the help!

    Response:

    Hi there,

when the controller is connected to the computer via USB cable, I do assume that the battery is charging (when needed)

    1. Yes, that should be possible, regular Xbox One controllers without batteries will also work when connected via USB cable

    2. I'm afraid that I can't answer this question. Battery life can be affected when a battery is charged while not close to being empty, but that might be different per type of battery, it will also depend on how the firmware handles the charging.
