Xbox Elite Series 2 controller doesn't report paddles via Bluetooth with 5.11-5.13 firmware...

These steps don't help if the firmware version is 5.11 or 5.13.

First question you should ask someone reporting this issue is what Firmware version are you running.

With 5.11 Bluetooth stopped working but Paddles access still working to customize on PC. It will only work while using USB cable is used. This version still gives access to the paddles to assign other actions with a program like reWASD.

With 5.13 Bluetooth AND customized Paddles access stopped working on PC.

To be more specific, this problem started with Firmware update 5.13 . I was willing to pay the premium price for this controller so I could map the paddles to individual button actions not to just emulate existing buttons.

To add to the pain, I do not own an Xbox console so I can not revert the firmware to 5.11 at least on a PC. I can't find any way on PC to do this.

Microsoft Please fix this. I was always willing to buy and replace the controller as long as the functionality was still there. Now, if something happens to this controller I will not buy another Elite for my PC gaming needs.

So basically if No Fix for firmware 5.13 then this will be my last Elite controller. I hope this is not farewell Microsoft (dramatic music accompanied by dramatic statement).

It's probably because your gamepad firmware is 5.11 or newer. Due to this, your Xbox gamepad is not recognized as Elite and so paddles are not working. This happens if you connect over bluetooth. Try using a cable and it should work.

Alternatively, you can downgrade firmware of your gamepad on Windows. Use Win+R to open command line and type

xboxaccessories:\\firmwareupdate?legacyDowngrade=true

make sure your gamepad is connected via USB.

To be very, very clear, the problem is that the newest firmware updates to Xbox elite 2 controller has broken the functionality of the paddles. As of the latest firmware, the paddles are completely disabled when in default profile. The paddles used to work in default mode, and now they don't. Steam can corroborate this: last year Steam added functionality to customize the outputs of the elite controllers paddles, which means that the paddles used to output a unique signal instead on only emulating other controller buttons.

You can also see a growing number of recent complaints from Elite controller users who are realizing that their paddle inputs are now broken. Each Elite controller series 2 comes with 1 set of paddles. You can order replacement paddles, thumbsticks etc.

Series 1 paddles, thumbsticks is not compatible with series 2.
