    Xbox Elite Series 2 Brings Up Xbox Game Bar If You Press A Button


    I just bougth two Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers, and if I connect them via Bluetooth to my PC, they have stange behaviour, pressing A button results in an input as if you press A and XBox buttons at the same time, so Xbox Game Bar shows up. I tried it on three different PCs and the results are the same, Xbox Game Bar shows up each time I press A. The issue doesn't appear if I connect it via USB.

    Another issue is that if I connect the controller via USB to charge it, it losses Bluetooth paring, when I unplug the controller, so I have to remove the device manually from the Bluetooth settings and pair it again, reboot and switching the controller on/off don't help.

    Xbox Accessories doens't provide an option to update the controller's firmware.

    I was NOT able to find any official post from Microsoft where they are confirming the issue or saying that they're going to deliver a fix or working on it.

    This is not acceptable when the product doesn't work propertly in the very basic scenario.

    - Latest version of Windows 10 Pro (21H2)

    - Latest version of Xbox Accessories (300.2110.13001.0)

    - Xbox Elite Controller Series 2

    - Controller firmware version: 4.7.1872.0

    - I DO have the default mapping

    Is there a way to force an update for a Elite Controller Series 2 on PC?

    Same issue. Elite Series 2 on PC, pressing the A Button brings up the Game Bar (a commonly reported problem). The solution is apparently to update the firmware from 4.7.xxxx to whatever the current one is. But I can't do that because the Xbox Accessories app is outdated and won't even register that there is an update to download.

    I don't see any reason for the controller to lose bluetooth pairing. It has to be fixed.
    Yes, me neither. What really annoys me is that this issue has happened for over a year now with my first purchase of the Elite Series 2 controller last year. Initially I thought this is a feature (albeit a weird one), not a bug. With all the issues related to the Elite controllers reported, they are far from being elite.

    The update is now availabe and I was able to update my controller. After the update Xbox Bar doesn't show up anymore every time I press A. But one of the isssues I described in the original post is still here:

    Another issue is that if I connect the controller via USB to charge it, it losses Bluetooth pairing, when I unplug the controller, so I have to remove the device manually from the Bluetooth settings and pair it again, reboot and switching the controller on/off don't help.

    The version of my controller is "4.8.1908.0" now. It seems that everyone is experiancing the same thing.

    Is it possible to address this issue as well?

    By the way I haven't faced that problem using other controllers (like DS4 for example).

    The Xbox Accessories app was just updated, which both required an update for my Elite controller, bringing the firmware to 4.8.1908.0, and fixed the missing UI/button on the Elite controller's ellipsis menu to check/show the status of available updates.

    I'm extremely glad to have it fixed. Thank you.
    FYI, the app may not be updated right away. What I did was uninstalling the app, reinstalling it, and then plugging the controller in. However, the controller still does not remember its previous Bluetooth connection. It seems the developer has not properly addressed this issue, unfortunately.
