xbox elite controller wont sync to pc. sync button doesnt do anything

if i hit the sync button while the controller is off, nothing happens.

when i turn on the controller, it turns on my xbox.

when i hit or hold or the sync button after the controller is on, nothing happens.

im using an xbox usb dongle to try and sync to my pc, but the button on the controller only works when my xbox is unplugged from the wall

how do u **** up a button that only has one function????

how do i fix this WITHOUT a usb cable and WITHOUT unplugging my xbox from the wall every time i wanna sync to my pc?

I understand. It could be something a feature limitation on its firmware if it doesn't let you unpair while connected via USB cable to your console. that will probably work, but i should not have to unplug my usb cable from my xbox, to plug it in on pc, just to sync my controller to it. especially when there is a dedicated "sync" button.

ill figure out another way. thanks anyway

I see. I suggest to check for a controller updates using the Xbox Accessories app on your PC. Connect it using a USB cable and check for updates. Let's see if the update makes some changes.

that does NOT work either, and is very unpractical since i have the elite controller dock

it should automatically update when i link to my xbox, last time i checked it was updated, and either way it should work with every firmware version.. it is a DEDICATED button
