Xbox Elite Controller opens up Game Bar when pressing A

Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

There are 2 fixes for this issue. The first is to update the controller firmware with an Xbox console. If you don't have an Xbox, then the second is to completely disable the "Open Xbox Game Bar using this button on a controller" and only use the keyboard shortcut to access that menu.

Sadly I already try to remap / reset the button in the xbox accesory app with the remote connected with the cord. It did not fix the issue. As soon as i reconnect the controller via bluetooth the issue come back.

Connect the controller via USB to your PC and you can remap the buttons in the App.

Go to Start < Xbox Game Bar < [Right click] < More < App Settings < Reset

I found that to prevent the screen shots from happening in steam you need to update steam to have drivers for the elite controller.

I did this first by participating in steam betas, entering big picture mode and checking elite controller drivers.

This however did not stop the game bar from appearing when pressing A button if the game bar is enabled

Strange not having any updates, anyway check if by disabling the Xbox game bar the problem stops happening, for that follow the instructions below, please.

Go to Windows Settings

Games

Xbox Game Bar

Deactivate it

Uncheck the box to open the Xbox game bar with the Xbox button on the controller as well.

If the problem persists, use a cable to plug the controller into your PC, open the accessories application and restore your elite controller settings to defaults, restart your PC and see if the problem persists.
