Xbox Elite controller keeps disconnecting

I bought my elite controller a few months ago, I have the gen 2 version (I think - I bought it when it had just been released). I played Elder Scrolls Online for a couple months with it with no issues - I love this controller. I needed a break from ESO so
I started playing Fallout 3 on my Windows 10 PC. I used the S.T.E.P. guide to install a bunch of mods with the hope I would make a more stable game - I tried vanilla first and kept getting CTD's. Yet after a while my modded game just kept crashing, I got tired
of it and moved on to Fallout 4. The S.T.E.P. guide is linked below:

My disconnecting issue started when playing Fallout 3, and now happens continuously in any game I play - ESO, FO3, FO4 or anytime I'm not even playing a game. I have no idea what is causing this issue - I don't think it is an issue with the controller itself
- maybe the wire, because I always use the provided wire to play without using batteries - it is a very nice wire, but when connecting to the controller it seems as if it is loose, or maybe there is some kind of short in the wire - I don't know. But I really
think it is something I did when following the S.T.E.P. guide with FO3 - some kind of issue with my computer.

I have a brand new computer, running an i7 and 1070ti, and I just want to play a game without having the controller keep disconnecting. If I get it going, if I keep the controller still, it will work for 30 minutes to an hour, and then suddenly disconnect,
other times it happens every 5 minutes. Out of curiosity, I plugged in my wired xbox 360 controller (no disconnecting wires, just a plane solid wired controller) and it was also having this issue, which is why I don't think my issue is with the controller
but the PC instead.

My Xbox Controllers keep dropping its wirless connecting from my Xbox.

Hey Guys,

My problem is my Xbox controller keeps disconnecting from my Xbox One even if I am less than a half-foot away. I don't know if it is my Xbox elite controller or my Xbox One. When it disconnects my controller power icon will flash when disconnected and looks
like it is trying to find the Xbox. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? It is driving me crazy and I can't play a game because of this issue.

Controller disconnecting continuously

Hello, My 3 controllers keep disconnecting continuously from my xbox elite. It is not interference as i have triple checked this. I have tried to contact the support but it keeps disconnecting me from the chat, other people seem too be having the same
issue. I hope microsoft is not avoiding the subject. Anybody please help me, thank you in advance.

Try to use your controller with batteries if it works check the usb slot in your pc for eventual damages

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand your Elite controller keeps disconnecting. We recommend trying to update the controller. Sometimes the check for update seems to sync the controller again.

Ive had the baseline controllers for years and keep holding back from pulling the trigger (get it?) for an elite controller. When the series 2 came out, I was ready to go get one, but the fervor died off with reports of disconnecting.

Right now I’m still waiting to get an elite. I plan on it sometime this year, maybe with the Series X

Same, just got an elite xbox one controller- it and a 2nd controller are just connecting and disconnecting. Even tried a 2nd cable.

First make sure the Elite Series 2 controller battery is fully charged. A low battery can cause intermittent disconnections. It is always advisable to use fully charged batteries or keep the controller connected via a USB cable.
