Xbox elite 2 controller X button constantly pressed

When testing my buttons there’s nothing showing as pressed at first but when I press any button the X button is showing as always pressed. Every other buttons registers as normal.

Iv opened it up and cleaned the boards with isopropyl alcohol and the button on the motherboard looks new so I can’t see why it’s always pressed.

A work around for this is to disable the button altogether through the accessories app and use one of the rear buttons instead.

Iv updated to the latest filmware and there’s no debris or software issues.

Is there any way of fixing this without replacing the motherboard, could it be a faulty component?

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with your Xbox controller.

May I know if the issue happened before and after updating the controller firmware, or only once you update it?

If you try connecting the controller to a different device, like your PC or a mobile phone, are you able to experience the same behavior?

I’m using the elite 2 controller on an xbox one x.

I have an older wireless xbox controller that came with the console and the buttons on that work fine.

I don't get the same problem as you but kind of similar. My Xbox one X turns itself on randomly and also suggest stopped doing anything when the A button is pressed on the home screens. It recognizes that you pressed the button, it just doesn't do anything.
If you hold the button down it might recognize it eventually. It does this with every controller I have so it's not the controllers.

I have the same problem you are having with the controller. In fact it's happening right now, I had to take the batteries out of the Elite controller and use the standard controller. It only happens with the X console and when using
the Elite controller. If I use the Elite controller on my day one edition of the One it never happened. Xbox support has no answers except the usual nonsense, which does nothing for this problem.

I like the little changes to it, the share button is nice. But I will be using my Elite Series 2 Controller when the Xbox Series X comes out.
