    XBox Elite 2 controller not recognized in accessories app after firmware upgrade


    Recently bought an Elite 2 controller, mostly because of the back paddles. Turns out those can only be customized in the accessories app. Fair enough.

    Going into the app, I'm prompted for a firmware upgrade. After that finishes, the app no longer recognizes the controler, simply giving a canned message that the new firmware is not recognized by the app.

    On Windows 10. Some researching gave similar posts from some months ago with similar issues, but attempting to revert the firmware (the solution given) has proven impossible through the app, and I don't own a XBox to do so otherwise.

    Is there some other workaround, or some place where I can bring this up to devs? Because an issue like this is honestly kind of ridiculous.

    Does Microsoft plan to support it's own XBox Controller firmware on the Xbox Accessories app (PC)?

    There might be an update to the Xbox Accessories app on the PC. Check using the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10/11. The app on the PC should then be able to recognize the new firmware of the Elite Controller.

    I also am experiencing this issue after purchasing the Halo Elite Series 2 controller, unable to use it in bluetooth as the A button toggles the xbox game bar and there isn't a prompt to update the firmware on xbox accessories app.

    DFU mode is available for the first xbox one controllers, the ones without the headphone jack. All other controllers post that including the Elite controller don't use USB DFU(Device Firmware Upgrade) mode for firmware update.

    The first thing would be to try and see if a firmware update is available via the Xbox Accessories app on the store, and if that fixes the issue for you.

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

    If the controller does not work on any PC it means there is an issue with the controller itself or the controller might be missing a firmware update.

    Connect the controller via cable (the original one, do not use a third party cable that comes with a charger as some of them donot have data lines) then open the xbox accessories app. Check if the controller is recognized and if a firmware available popup opens. If it does upgrade the firmware on the controller.

    I do not have the original cable for the controller. I am not able to get the controller recognized.
