Xbox doesn't let me install a specific game on the xbox app

I have a problem where I want to download this specific game and whenever I go to press install and see the game pop up in my downloads it at the same time sends a warning error message with "Something went wrong" and refuses to download any solutions?

Let’s try to isolate the problem a bit more, for this try and tell me:

A. If you go to the drive where you want to install the game and look insider the WindowsApps or XboxGames folder
Are you able to see a folder related to this game?

B. If you have more than one drive (besides C

no matter if you select a different drive the issue persist?

C. Open task manager > select the startup tab > disable all the programs listed there temporarily
Restart the PC and try again

D. Do a clean boot in your PC and try again

Additional information is needed, please tell me:

What game is that?

Are you using Windows 11 or 10?

What's the error code that you're receiving once you try to install this game?

Are you trying to install the game on a different drive than C:?

Is this happening only with this game?

And what did you tried so far to fix this, in that way I can advise you different things or how to proceed

Hello, thank you very much for replying as for your questions.

The game in question is called 'Crusader Kings III'

I am on Windows 11

The error code is 0x87e00196 now I have gone and looked for solutions on the support page but, the instructions have led me to another problem and I'm unsure of how to proceed from there.

All my xbox games currently are in my C: drive

So far, I have only experienced this issue with this one game if you have any solutions that can help, or need any more information to help please ask as I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm having basically the exact same problem. No matter how many times I change the install location settings in the Xbox app, the changes will not save at all, and the games will only install to the folder on my D drive that I had selected before this problem started occurring. I tried everything I know how, and none of it worked, which leads me to believe that this is a bug on Microsoft's end, specifically in the Xbox app itself.

Sorry to say but that's not possible. Xbox app doesn't have the ability to recognize existing files for the moment.
Just to confirm, the previously installed apps doesn't appear in windows settings > apps and features > installed apps
Right?

If you don't mind, please try installing a game that you never installed previously to see if the issue persists
