Xbox doesn't connect to my PC, missing controller driver in the device manager

Recently my Xbox controller stopped connecting to my PC. I tried connecting it to all the USB ports via an USB cable, but it didn't work. I checked the device manager, the Xbox controller driver seemed to be missing. I've not tried Bluetooth yet. I'm gonna
buy some batteries tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. But meanwhile, I still hope someone can help me to solve the issue. I prefer to use wired connection.

    :)

    @XBF Diego M.

It doesn't really matter if the PC/Laptop has Bluetooth or not though. The user is trying to get the controller to work with a wire, which worked before, and is the same wire I'm using. My PC doesn't have Bluetooth.

I already stated earlier that the Play and charge for the Xbox One also sends data, and it can turn a wireless controller into a wired controller. Only the 360 play and charge is just a charger.

    Hi JoJoMaster,

This cable is not made to transfer the data required to install the drivers and set up the controller for PC use.
The Xbox One Play and charge cable differs to the 360 play and charge in that it
does sent data as well as charging the battery. How do I know this? Well, I'm using the
    exact same cable.

Yes, the Xbox 360 play and charge can't send data, but the Xbox One play and charge can. I'm using one, the official one.

As you can see from the image below, my controller is using the Xbox One Play and Charge on the PC and is working.

I still refer back to my previous comments regarding either a faulty controller or a faulty cable. It could be a Windows issue, but at the moment I doubt that to be the case.

    Hi JoJoMaster,

What type of USB cable are you using?

As Obsessive Power mentioned earlier, most micro USB cables are made to transfer data on top of charging batteries, but not all micro USB cables are made to transfer data. The drivers should auto-install once you plug in the controller, and if this does
not happen then you may not be using the right cable.

In this case, many users will use the USB cable that comes with the
Xbox One Play and Charge kit
thinking it should work since it's manufactured by Microsoft, but this cable is made specifically to charge the battery packs when connected to an Xbox One console and are not capable of data transfer to a PC.

Even if you are not using this specific cable, I believe this issue is being caused by the cable you are using. Try getting a different USB cable that is capable of data transfer and let us know if this makes a difference.

    Hey JoJoMaster

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this up on the Xbox Forums.

The drivers for the for the Xbox One controller tend to be pre-installed in any Windows 10 operating system.

In this instance since they are no longer available on your PC, I have a link here for the

    Microsoft website
where you can find the drivers for the Xbox One controller.

Go ahead and see if re-installing it works this way, and please keep us updated!
