Xbox discord sound won't work via wireless headset

1. Make sure your headphones are fully charged and properly connected to the console.

- Select “Profiles and system” and then “Settings”.
- Select “General” and then “Volume and audio output”.
- Make sure the audio output is set to “Headphones”.

3. Verify that Discord's audio settings are configured correctly. To do so, follow these steps:

- Open Discord on your console.
- Select “Settings” and then “Voice and video”.
- Make sure the audio input and output are set on your wireless headphones.

4. If the above steps don't work, try restarting your console and headset.

So are you trying to use your headsets wirelessly? Because wireless headsets aren't supported on Xbox. I have to connect my SteelSeries 7 wireless headset via a 3.5mm jack cable. USB headsets won't work one Xbox ones either.

Just to be clear. You are connecting the controller with the Xbox wireless adapter, right? If using a Bluetooth connection, the headset will not work.

If you are using the controller via wireless check that in the sound settings the controller is active and is defaulted to playback.

Thanks for replying CarTzy. I have reverted back to the newer drivers. I use a cabled headset not wireless btw. I have noticed that when I plug in the controller via USB the the headset shows up in sound settings and is chosen so I hear sound, but when i plug in the wireless adapter - the headset option disappears from sound settings therefore is not an option and sound only comes out of the monitor, not the headset.

Anyway, once I re-input the controller via USB (having previously had it on wireless)- the controller will not turn on. I Have to delete the XINPUT entries in device manager and reboot first to make Windows re-install and re-recognize the controller and turn it on.

Not sure how to fix this; clearly the update XINPUT drivers are not working properly. There is nothing faulty with my controller or headset btw.

Oh no, I mean. Bluetooth 4.2, Bluetooth 5.0 etc.
Unfortunately Wireless Headset can be a bit tricky or not work as intended on PCs with a lower Bluetooth version.

I was checking a similar thread, it seems this issue is solved using the Xbox Wireless adapter or connecting directly the headset via USB, on PC the wireless headset have some issues when you want to use sound and microphone at the same time
