    Xbox disc dive spins then stops


    Xbox one will rarely read 360 games or movies it will sound like it spins then it stops. Help Please I don't know if its a problem with the laser.

    Disc Drive spins really fast when 360 is turned off

    Have you figured out why?

    My console does this aswell, when I'm charging my control and my console is off, the disc spins at full throttle then stops, then goes, then stops?!!

    It's a little scary, I hope my Xbox isnt dying Xbox disc dive spins then stops :(

    Rage install seemingly ignored by my Xbox

    Mine spins for a couple minutes, then stops.

    (Warhammer: Space Marines does the same.)

    Must be some new disc checking.

    Can i install games and give the dics to my friends?

    The discs need to be in the console when you wish to play them. The discs will spin up as the xbox verifies them and will stop spinning after a few minutes.

    Disc spins when playing installed game from memory

    I know that the disc spins to verify that you actually own a physical copy of the game, but after that it would stop spinning the disc completely and only play the game from memory. With this new console update, the disc continues to spin for about 2 minutes
    into a game while it's still playing the game from memory, 2 minutes into the game the disc stops spinning, before the update it would spin for maybe 3 seconds then stop.

    ....

    It's not a big deal, I initially thought that it would never stop spinning because of this new update. Thanks for your answers guys, the question is answered but I'd still like Microsoft to change the disc spinning back to the way it was so it only spins
    to do the initial disc check.

    The new copy protection scheme does not perform a simple disc check. Gears of War 3 did the same thing - the disc spins for 3-5 minutes before finally spinning down.



    Try playing for a while, then pause and see if the disc has stopped spinning.

    Installed discs still spin

    when installed the disc will spin for no more than a few minutes at start up of the game but then stop and not spin.

    if it does keep spinning then the issue could be that the game was installed on that hard drive but on another xbox, all you have to do is use the licence transfer feature to the xbox you are permanently playing the game on, and you also might have to install
    the game again. This happened to me with BC2, i moved my hard drive that had BC2 installed on it to another Xbox, the disc kept spinning but once i transferred my licence over and installed the game disc again, it would only spin at the loading start of the
    game and then stop after a very few minutes.
