Before you check out with design lab it actually states this in the cart:

Due to the customized nature of Xbox Design Lab, you cannot cancel or modify your order once it is placed. Your Xbox Design Lab order will deliver in 2 to 3 weeks.
You will be charged immediately, and the order cannot be returned or refunded.

I am afraid that Xbox Design Lab controllers cannot be returned or refunded based on their FAQ here https://support.xbox.com/help/xbox-design-lab

I take it you are trying to use the Xbox Design Lab? Try to contact support and say you're having trouble with the controller design lab. Or see if there is a support page/email/number on the controller design lab website.

The warranty for Design Lab controllers is 120 days (6 months). You can use this article (Xbox Design Lab and Xbox
Design Lab controller help) for any troubleshooting you need for your controller. If you do need servicing for your controller, you can set it up at https://support.microsoft.com/devices.
