Xbox design lab controller help

Heya, so my friend got me a design lab wireless controller. Was super excited, anyway. It works but then it doesn't? Like all the buttons work and all but then it seems like it just falls asleep.. the light will still be lit up but if I try to press any
buttons, nothing will work until like 5 minutes later after I get all stressed out and press every single button on there about 20 times -.- I dno if it's just me being silly but I've tried to look it up online and I can't find anything to help. Does anyone
else have this problem?

If you continue to have issues with the DL controller I would suggest setting up a repair order if it's still under warranty.
