The fact that your console freezes during gaming and turns on again by itself when you try to turn it off makes me think of a hardware failure. Just to be on the safe side try to clear your console cache a few times and if that doesn't helps you can file
for repairs here:

support.xbox.com/.../getting-your-product-serviced

The repairs cost is decided by the apposite team in base of your console's warranty and the damage.

Unfortunately, Microsoft hasn't been kind enough to offer an explanation in any announcements that I've been able to find.
